I wanted to get some feedback regarding Capstar tablets. I am finding breakthrough fleas (about 1-3 per day) on Spencer in addition to him receiving his monthly topical Frontline plus. I heard that Capstar will quickly kill the fleas that are on him and that the product is really safe according to drug monograph sources.
But, I would like to hear from people in this forum about this product.
Thank you
my experience
Hello, having worked at a vet clinic for a long time I think I can help. Capstar is considered safe for dogs and puppies. It works in about 24 hours and kills all fleas on the body. Clinics vary as to the cost of the pill. However, how often are you applying the Frontline? It actually wears out after about 3 weeks. Also, if your bully has gotten wet by a hose or rain, it will wash off a good majority of the Frontline. We have been really pleased with Advantix. It seems to stay on much longer about 5 weeks. I use it on my own bully. Also, it protects against mosquitos, too. Not that that eliminates the need for heartworm prevention, just keeps your bully from having itchy bites.

Good luck. Hope I've helped a little.
