I would actually prefer to use that line on someone who is not overweight, since they will be even more touchy about it. I usually don't make fun of overweight people, but anyone who makes a remark like that lady deserves it whether she is or not.

I was going to comment in an earlier post about the tortures of having to look at her bootie shorts and cottage cheese thighs while gardening, but thought better of it, you know "People who live in glass houses..." Oh well, she is my heighbor, I have to keep the peace.

(I'm not really THAT mean...*wink*) and when people tell me that Elsa is "ugly" - I tell them that she probably feels the same way about them, and smirk!

People can be ignorant. Really, telling someone that their dog is ugly is rude. How many people would walk up to someone with a human baby, despite how they felt about the baby and say..."That's an ugly kid you've got there!"

I know it shouldn't have bothered me, but I think it is partly because Ruby has such an affection for her. If she only knew what she was saying. It's not like the neighbor is any ravishing beauty herself anyway...lol.

More than anything. Didn't their parents tell them if they have nothing nice to say don't say it...It has happened to me, but I don't let it get to me...I do on the other hand, hate when EVERY SINGLE TIME I go outside w/ my dog that my next door neighbor has to come and get him all RILED up! Then he tries to hump her, etc...Without fail, if we are in a rush and we have to let Otis out to potty quick sure enough she is out there and repeating her stories from the time before when she was out there w/ him last. Jeez!

even my mom, when I was looking for Leeloo, would say that they're SO WEIRD and ugly looking BUT now that she's met her granddoggie she absolutely loves her... although I do make a point of reminding her that she use to say bullies were ugly, especially when she's commenting on how cute, soft and wonderful she is... hmpf! That'll teach her!

What really ticks me is that EVERYONE seems to think bulldogs = pitbulls! Even people to whom I explain that she's a Bulldog not a pitbull and what the differences are, still say, well but BE CAREFUL when she grows up!!! Some people are so stupid and closed-minded!!! I even have some brochures on pitbulls nkow to hand out along with my lecture on the history of the Bulldog...

but when I said she was cute, she looked me square in the eye, and kinda shot me a look like "you can't be serious", and besides, she is just such a sweet dog. Oh well, her loss that she can't see da beauty of da bullie. I'm just glad I can come here where everyone can truly appreciate a good looking dog!

I guess only a bullie owner can really appreciate a bullie's face. No accounting for some peoples taste.
I've had people say mine has a face only the momma could love I tell them they just can't appreciate the finer things in life.

There's a crossing guard at the corner of my apt building (for the school children) and Lola goes absolutely nuts over him. He always says they're so ugly that they're cute! But I know he means well (he's a very nice man). If people say it in a sweet maner, I don't mind. I say it about Pugs (they are also one of my favorite breeds). I don't say it with any harm, so I asume they don't either. Regardless,I don't blame you for being hurt. Bullies are Beautiful! But sometimes it takes a special person to see their beauty.

I think bullys are such a rare breed, in my area you RARELY see them, and I think they are adorable... the last time I took Molly to petsmart alone, a woman came up to me talking about her poodle (ack) no offense to anyone who has one, I guess it just made me mad because she was makin jokes about Molly - Anyways, she said "a face only a mother could love" i said what you talking about I think shes adorable... and such a character, she does everything with me, I would be so lonely without her and my hubby... I love her with everything I have and when people do that it royally pisses me off..
