I hope all those dad's have a great day today.
To all those sons and daughters give your dads (& moms) extra hugs and kisses as you will never know how long you will have them in your lives.
I lost my parents 8 yrs ago and I was only 34.
My folks raised me with dogs and supported my love of horses (even though my dad wasn't to keen on horses). The dog and horse showing gave me a huge sense of selfworth, responibility, determination and respect for people and animals.
I remember my dad making sure I had taken care of my horses every morning when I got to school. He was a teacher you see and as a 7th and 8th grader he was my history teacher. Even as a little kid (8 yrs) I was expected to take on the responsibility and care of my horses. He often helped, because I was tiny, but what a lesson for life long work ethics he instilled.
To all those dads....I hope you share in your childrens lives like my dad did and know that someday they will love you for even those strict and unpopular decisions you make for them everyday.
I hope you all don't mind me sharing my dad's pics with you. I wish I could have had more time with him. HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD!
Both of my parents were involved with the Humane Society in one way or another. This was a photo that was in a newspaper article regarding the Humane Society. This was before rescue had really taken off.
My dad had his Professional Handlers license and showed extensively in the 70's. Here's one of his win photos showing a top winning Doberman male (Xec).
Beautiful
What a nice tribute to your Dad...a bit of a tear-jerker. So sorry for your loss - he sounded like a wonderful man. I lost my Dad when I was 11 years old but am fortunate enough to have a wonderful step-father who has been able to fill that void. Keep the memories alive and they will always be with you! Happy Dad's Day!

Your father was a lucky man to have
such a loving daughter! He looks so happy in those pics. Can tell you were the light of his life.

Wonderful Pictures

Thanks for sharing Deb
I lost my Daddy 18 years ago when I was 34 and I still miss him so much, don't guess you ever get over that loss.
Thanks for sharing...(sorry a little long)
I know how you feel about wishing your dad was around a little longer. I lost my dad when I was 21 and wish everyday that he was still around to show him just how much he taught me.
I learned all my work ethics from him also (he owned his own business and worked from 4 am till 8 pm at least).
We always had a dog or two growing up and they were my responsibilty since I was little.
Just remember your dad is up above watching over you and I am sure he is very proud of the person you have become! Hey maybe your dad and mine are together playing cards or something.
Sue
dittos.....but his legacy lives on in each of you. : )

Thanks for sharing, Father's Day becomes real special...
when your father is no longer with you.
"The more I know people, the more I love my bulldogs."
What a wonderful tribute.
What a great tribute to your Dad. My dad was wonderful, too. I wish I had had him around longer, too. I think he enjoyed my pets as much as I did. When I brought my first bully, I got her at six weeks. He said"I hope it lives", aghast. She was a very tiny runt of the litter. I was in school, but would bring her home to visit. He thought she was wonderful. She really was a great girl. She brought him much joy, too.
Thank you deb!
