Fluff is in the hospital, and is the one that needs your prayers

Thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts. I'm been all over the place today, but not accomplishing a thing.

Fluff work us up around 3 a.m., whimpering, crying, and unable to get up. Took her temperature, it was 103.6. It seemed to be her right front leg/shoulder. I stayed up with her and we were at the vets when they opened at 7 a.m. She has some infection pocket in her right shoulder per the x-rays. She had to stay, have her on IV's, high doses of antibiotics, gave her steroids, etc. Around 11 a.m. her temp had come down a little. Around 3 or so it was spiking back up to 104. They have her in a cooling cage right now, and just hoping and waiting for the antibiotics, etc. to kick in.

Fluff always sleeps in bed with us. Though she will be 8 in Sept., she is a tough ol' girl. For her to almost non-stop cry and whimper from 3 a.m., she had to be hurting. I did hold an ice pack to her shoulder for periods that seemed to help. And an ascription seemed to help, a little. Have no idea what could have caused this, no puncture wound or anything that she could have gotten an infection.

So thank you for keeping Fluff in your thoughts and prayers.

Gosh Patti! I am sure she worried you. It sounds like it came up very suddenly. We'll keep her and you all in our prayers. She is such a grand lady.

Her leg wasn't really hot, and there were no signs of any cut, bite, etc. And really, we don't have any bees around here. I really don't have an answer, that is what is puzzling as to how/where she suddenly got this infection in her shoulder joint.

Did Fluff get stung by something? The reason I ask is that my daughter stepped on a bee a few years back and was fine for 24 hours and then her foot turned hot and red and started creeping up past her ankle. The bees sting had a blood infection. Her temp spiked too. She ended up with antibiotics and something else that I cant quite remember. I wonder if Fluff may have been biten. Give her big loves from us.

The vet just called, her temp has come back down to 103, and he said she seems to be resting the most comfortable as she's been all day. The are closed now, and he was leaving, but will be back in a couple hours to check on her and he said he'd call me with another update.

It is so hard when you don't know what the problem is. I felt so helpless all night, and now all day. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.
