Dozer had his first cherry eye today, :-( What a way to start the new year...lol

I massaged it back in just like you all have said to do and it popped back in to place just fine. His eye looks normal now. Will it come back? It wasn't very red or big and puffy. In fact the only way i noticed was his eye seemed a little redder than normal and upon inspection i thought it seemed like it was sticking out a bit. I massaged it back in and it only to a couple of gentle pushes to get it in place. And now it looks totally normal. What can i expect from now on with it? What should i do in the future the same thing? I would normally ask on the med board but i get more responses on here. But thanks to all the great BDW advice i've read before we were prepared and dozer didn't seem to mind the massage.lol

Eye on the cherry eye.....

Sounds cool. Onething that I have tried with one of my girls is that if the cherry eye pops out shortly after I massage it in, I have eye drops from the vet (sterile water) that I give her a good amount to try to lube/clean out the eye. I might see it pop out once every 2 months.

It popped out again a couple hours later...

and i massaged it back in again. It hasn't came back yet, but it still freaks me out when i notice it has popped out again, lol. I'm just keeping an eye on it for now.

Ack.

We are still waiting for our new bully puppy Daisy to come home in a couple of weeks, so we are still learning about bulldogs and their various quirks. I've never heard of a cherry eye, it sounds very scary. I don't really understand exactly what it is, does it happen a lot with bulldgos?

Thanks for the info, we are trying to be prepared for all issues. The breeder is extremely nice and knowledgable and we can always call her when something comes up, but still I am trying to learn all of the possible issues that we may face down the line.

Thank you for any info that you share!

I hope that Dozer is okay!!!!!!!!!!!

it could

but just keep massaging it back into place, Lily 's pops out 2-3 times a year, it is only scary the firt time

My experience with Diana is that they

come and go. It didn't really ever bother her and the massaging worked for a long time. I just didn't like having it stick out as it looks terrible. As her head grew, the timing for them to pop out seemed to vary as well. I eventually had them tacked and she is perfect now with no dry eye or tear staining. I have a great experienced vet whom I trusted to do the procedure. She is not a show dog so I had no concerns in that area.
