Don, You seems to know a lot about Kelp, could you please tell me where I can get it and how much should I give to a 4 months old puppy? powder or tablets? Does it has any side effect when you first give to the pup? Thank you so much for your help.
Don't play around with Kelp it is a natural simulant for the thyroid gland and you don't want to fool around with the thyroid. I'm sure it has nothing to do with darkening the skin You could do more harm than good using it. Always ask you vet about things like this. people will try anything and profess that it works when it has nothing to do with what they are trying to achieve.
I did responsed to your first message and heres my responsed to you and goodluck :O((( Recently i did ordered a pint of Kelp (powder) at the manufacturer, but you can go to Natural health store for less than $5.00 a bag ( i found out that late ). I have asked couple of breeders regarding this product and they told me it works for them specially for PIGMENTATION and the rest of the info are... * All natural *Reduces Skin problem *Helps enhance coat& and reduces excessive shedding *Dogs will be able their stamina & endurance *Better utilization and absorption of nutrients and food ingested *Helps maintain benefit thyroid. *Aids in the healing process. *Great for pregnant or nursing dogs. *Reduces breeding problem. *Helps boost immune system which is the first line of defense against allegies. *Minimizepain and arthritis. * Increases over all health of your dog.

Several years back an old breeder friend of mine told me that Kelp assisted in the darkening of the face and eye liner and that he always gives it to his pups from about the age of 12 wks. Since that time I have given it to my pups after about 12 weeks until such time I feel they have filled in the areas that should be black.
Does it help, I really don't know but I have seen no side affects and all my pups fill in nicely. I give them 150mcg tablet each day - GNC brand. You will need to decide if it is for you - Kelp is a source of iodine.

Kelp
Has no side effects, but I have seen no evidence that is actually does help with the pigment. Cant hurt though!
