My bully has had 2 tail surgeries...they dr.'s didn't fix his tail the first time. Since the last tail surgery he has been rubbing his butt on the floor and moaning. The dr. said that all bulldogs butts itch and that's how they scratch it. I think its hurting him. On the last visit they gave him a cortizone shot and said it was probably allergies. He didn't itch for about 1 week but then started up again. Does your bully's do this? Any suggestions.
Vet opinion (??)
The vet is wrong. All dogs do NOT do this. Can you tell if he moaning is from pain or if it's a good groan (like someone might do when their back is scratched?) However, wheter it's itching or hurting, the dog needs to be made more comfortable. Talk with your vet again (or find another vet, if this is not a bullie vet).
yep...
My bullies do that when they need their anal glands cleaned out. Sometimes you can actually smell a musky smell right after they do it. My female actually spins around in circles, it is rather cute, but than I know it is time to take her in for a cleaning.
Re: Does you dog do this?
My bulldog likes his butt scratched but he doesn't rub it against the floor. I think that your instinct is right and that he is in pain.
