Does anyone use a groomer??

We have always bathed George and done everything ourselves, but I HATE HATE HATE when he's wet and its SO cold out. Plus I can't take him outside to brush him out after his bath and I am thinking of finding a groomer just for these mega cold months. I am also kind nervous about someone else doing his nails. I know it's silly, but I get nervous..what if they hurt him by accident!

I would love everyones opinion.

Thanks so much!

I worry about Audrey being wet in the cold too.

You could take him to a groomer just for the really cold months, but still do his nail at home. If you do decide to do it at home, you can put a shhet down on the floor so he can stand on that when you brush him, it's easier to just shake it out then wash it than it is to clean the floor. Can you use a regular hair dryer on a dog?

I too, much prefer to do it myself...

its just with the weather and more importantly snow, I get worried he is going to catch cold! Plus I usually take him outside to brush him! I just thought that maybe for these winter months someone could help, especially help dry him off!

I'm the groomer. I bathe weekly and examine head to toe..

bathing puts my hands all over the dogs. It's a great way to find any lumps, bumps, or skin issues. Occasionally I'll find a hot spot on Junior.

I put coconut oil on Roxy's nips after her last bath. I didn't realize they had dirt built up in the creases. I do ears, nails, and check teeth too. It's a weekly ritual around here. They all hate the thought of a bath, but they love how they feel when it's all over with.

The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

I love my groomer !! He's for special occasions and

the day before shows. He is also my mentor so thats where I learned to groom. They ALWAYS look better when he grooms them. We usually bathe every week but have gone to every other since it's been in the single digits for the last couple of weeks. He does Nose to toes (including THE GLANDS).

just kidding ya. I don't use a groomer for my bulldogs but do for my Lhasa.

I do.

I used to bathe up to four dogs in one day when I was younger and stronger, but especially now that I'm down to only one, she goes to the groomer, who knows about bulldogs, no cage heaters (blow-dry only and then rest in a kennel) and they will trim nails but I must say that they really only take off the tips. happy.gif

the gang has had several groomers...just found

one in my area, my other one retired...they enjoy the special treatment of bath, nails and do better with someone doing the nails then me...and it saves my back...never had a problem with them going...they get some treats sometimes...lol

I have many times

Lily went to a groomer for 3 years, and Rocky went 1 year, now I do them myself, as I can't afford 100.00 for somebody to bathe them, What I do in the cold months, is I put my vac hose in the blow-out space, and I blow dry them in the bathroom, and brush them as I am drying them, I also do their nails & ears the day before or day after, so they are not bombarded
