Digital cam, sort of bullie related

Can anyone recommend a good digital cam. I want to be able to post more pics of my little Ruby, but I need a good cam. I have heard that you have to spend at least $200.00 to get something decent. Is that true? I have about $150.00 to spend on it right now, but if I need to save a little more let me know.
Thanks,
TJ

This is the rule of thumb I've read

For consumers, most digital camera models come in 1, 2, 3, or 4 megapixel models (tho some are 3.1 megapixels instead of 3.0).

I've seen photos taken with 1 and 2 megapixel models that look just great. But the photo magazines I've read say that you can only print out decent 4x6 or smaller photos on 1 and 2 megapixel models. If you want to print out 8x10 photos, you supposedly need a 3 or 4 megapixel model.

I have a Kodak LS443 4-megapixel model that comes with a docking station that recharges the battery. Thus I never need to worry about buying batteries, and the docking station makes it idiot proof at transferring photos to your computer. However, it is pricy, at around $350. But Kodak also has some good smaller megapixel models, tho I don't recall their model numbers.

Prices are usually directly related to the megapixel size. You can usually find good 1 and 2 megapixel models for under $200. The 3 megapixel models usually come in around $200 to $350, and the 4 megapixel models are about $350 to $500.

Above that price range are professional cameras that are 5 megapixels or higher, and cost anywhere from $600 to $3000 or more.

If you decide to buy a photo printer, I very very highly recommend the Canon i850. Sam's now sells it for $118 (versus the $199 I paid back in December). As Gail will also attest to, it is an awesome printer. You have to see the photos to believe them. The ones I print look better than what I used to get from professional photo labs when I dropped off 35 mm film.

I have a fugi finepix. It works just fine. I didn't need anything fancy and it cost about 197.00. I got it at good ole Walmart. I use it for everything. Too many buttons would really confuse me so I stayed with the basic.
