Dawn Simas, questions about Betty. I love hearing

about her. Was she a rescue, how old is she, how did the pretty girl lose her eye and toothy? I love her new stairs, I have my old girl Sugar and wondered if she would use them, right now I use an old sofa cushion for her to step up on. I pray that all her test turn out good. She's a beautiful girl.

Betty's story

I adopted Betty nearly two years ago after losing a senior gal named Lily. They think Betty's life started out as a puppy mill breeder, she was crate sour and didn't know how to get on furniture and had so many cesareans that her uterus was pure scar tissue when she was spayed. My vet guessed her age then as 9 or 10, so that would make her 11 or 12 now.

She's had lots of issues come up in the two years. She had a necrotic mass in her neck that the pathology report suspected was due to trauma (chain or a fight). That was D&C'd and removed, it was around the windpipe and caratoid artery, very touchy situation. She's had 3 or 4 mammory tumors removed. She had a spleen bleed 4-1/2 months ago or so, just before Raven's amputation, and had her spleen removed. Okay and then there's the eye. She had an ulcer that wouldn't clear up and we went in for a follow up vet visit and it simply burst while sitting in the lobby. It was horrific, they rushed her into surgery within minutes and removed it. That was a little over a year ago. She's had some teeth removed due to age, but she DOES have all her canines. happy.gif It's just that one sticks out further. happy.gif

If you do a search, I'm sure you can see LOTS of stories and videos of Betty. I got her in May '08, hoping to give her what may have only been a good happy few months, but she's like a little Timex watch. happy.gif

RE: the stairs

Not Dawn, but I bought the same stairs for Stella when she was about 8. I really wasn't sure she'd use them but she took to them right away - like she knew they were for her.

Thanks.......

never knew her story. How special she is and you as well. You are so fortunate to have one another!
