After a terrible scare, Daisy's home!!!! She is cute as can be, and looking to do some serious puppy playtime. I had to lie down and pretend to be asleep this afternoon so she would also calm down and go to sleep. It worked, she took a much needed long nap! Her mama also decided to take that time for a nice afternoon snooze, lol.
Thanks again for all of your prayers, it worked!
Here is a shot of Daisy and one of her mama during naptime this afternoon.

Thanks Everyone
Thanks again everyone! It's after midnight now and I have been watching Daisy, she's sleeping and seems okay so I am going to try and get some sleep. Not sure how successful I will be, I think I will keep getting up to check on her breathing but I am going to try, lol. Mama went on a nice walk with her daddy this evening and is also sleeping. In fact, everyone here is asleep but me, I am the big worrier. Good night bulldogworld friends!!!
Thanks, I'll check with our vet.
We will be going to a new vet that specializes in bulldogs next week for a follow up, I will be sure to ask him about the supplements. I can also check with our usual local vet. If I have no luck I will email you. Thanks!
We got it from our vet...they are human vitamins actually and
they will only sell them to health providers I believe. Another good company for dog supplements is Vetriscience. I believe Only Natural Pet sells them. If you are interested I have a great integrative vet in Wappingers Falls (over an hour from NYC).
Michelle, e-mail me if you need any information I have
I can offer you all the things I learned with Jez. It is a lot, don't want to bore everyone here with all the info. She almost died also when she was a pup. Was at the ER 6 times and had 3 surgeries before she was 2 years old. I would be happy to share everything I researched and learned in the last 7 years.
Thank you!
Michele
Do you get them at a local store or online? Thanks!
Thank you
That is a lot of useful information, I will definitely look into the probiotics. Our breeder recommended yogurt also and we are giving her a little for the first time tonight. Thank you for the info. We are experienced with dogs but not bulldogs and we are learning as much as we can, as quick as we can. It is a learning experience! They are absolutely wonderful, sweet dogs, but definitely have their quirks. Between our breeder whom we are talking to every single day, and all of the info I get here, we are learning the special bully ways!
You're doing great, mom!
Both Daisy and her mummy are lucky girls!!
We've use Standard Process Supplements too

SOOO happy to hear this! what cuties!

Amazing!
It is amazing, but I am a nervous wreck. I watch her every move, her breathing, every time she opens or closes her eyes, etc.. She is doing soooo much better, but of course not 100% and it is just so scary. I don't want anything more to happen to her and want to be sure that we catch it right away if something isn't going right. She's the sweetest little bully and we want to do the best for her.
My Bulldog, Angel has the same medical condition as...
Daisy. He has a hypoplastic trachea that is too tiny to ever be intubated, just like your sweet Daisy.
We rescued Angel when he was a puppy at 14 weeks old. He was very ill with pneumonia, and quite honestly his prognosis wasn't good. When we rescued him, He wasn't expected to live very long. We brought him home, and wanted him to know he was loved. When we adopted Angel he also couldn't walk, because of being caged for so long. He came from a puppymill, and then sent to a pet store, and then confiscated from law enforcement, after the pet store was shut down. Our veterinarian saved Angel and treated him free of cost, for weeks, and then asked us to help Angel. We got in the car, and went to get Angel, as soon as the vet told us about him.
On the advice of others here at BDW, I started Angel on a regimen to boost his immune system to fight off pneumonia. I'll list the supplements he takes.
STANDARD PROCESS WHOLE BODY SUPPORT
STANDARD PROCESS IMMUNE SYSTEM SUPPORT
We get the Standard process supplements from the vet. He special ordered them for us. The website of the manufacturer is www.standardprocess.com
We also give the dogs a probiotic supplement everyday. Probiotics are the friendly flora naturally found in the gut. They help aid digestion, reduce farting, and aid the immune system, and reduces yeast. They are especially important during and after antibiotics, since antibiotics kill off both the Good and Bad bacteria. You can get a high quality Probiotic supplement, such as Acidophilus at any health food store.
My dogs are NOT allergic to Dairy, so I also give them some Stonyfield yogurt everyday, and they like Kefir which contains prebiotics, which also helps digestion, and the other benefits as probiotics.
We also give a Salmon pill to the dogs. Fish Oil pills are good too. They both contain Omega 3 fatty acids which promote skin health, are good for the heart, and immune system.
My best advice would be to add a probiotic supplement first, and the add the other products one at a time, gradually, to give the body time to adjustto them.
Our Bulldog Angel will be 6 on February 1, so there is hope that dogs can survive and have a graet life with a hypoplastic trachea.
Denise, had a special Bulldog named Jez who also had a hypoplastic trachea. Denise is a wealth of information on dealing with this medical condtion. Jez was an inspiration for me.
Oh yeah!
I'm SO glad to hear that. Amazing how they rebound, isn't it? You or I would still be seriously dragging our feet after an ordeal like that!
Truly wonderful news!
So happy that she is home back with her family again. Your girls are both so sweet looking, asleep in those photos.
YAY! That is the best news!
I bet both Mommas are very happy.

Thanks!
Not sure about the rest though, I'm trying to keep a constant eye on her. Even when she is safe in her playpen and napping, I just want to watch and make sure her breathing is okay.
Not Sure???
Her mama got very excited when we came home with little Daisy. The mama just seemed to want to follow my every move and stay with me, but she didn't really interact with Daisy. Daisy is teething and mama is being very patient when Daisy nips at her though.
Yes!
Her cuteness does help! Thanks!!!
So happy to read this. I know you are happy to have her home! No
Maggie, Moze, Ollie,
...and always Schubert
so happy for this good outcome..
what was her mama's reaction?

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

What a relief!
I know just how you feel. Q was horribly ill with aspiration pneumonia after emergency surgery. I almost lost him. I couldn't stop staring at him the day he came home!
