Daisy's people have had a change in their job situations and felt they couldn't keep her, so they phoned yesterday about returning her.
They just left after dropping her off. It was a difficult decision for them and both were in tears over leaving her. Daisy is confused about them going and not taking her too, but she has gone into her crate to have a nap.
Over the next few days I will spend some time getting to know her, getting her re-acquainted with the house, yard and the other dogs. Hopefully in a few days she will feel at home.
I don't have any photos to post of her yet but she looks like a carbon copy of her half-sister Paris in the body with her sister Laura's head on her. All that equals a gorgeous Bull-bitch, even if she does need to shed a few pounds.
Re: age
Daisy is about 2-1/2 years old, they had her since she was 3-4 months old.
Yesterday and last night she very much wanted to stay in her crate, when I did get her out to go potty and she hid in the bushes. Took me about 30 minutes to get her out from the bushes - the temp was 15 degrees and I was freezing cold!
This morning she came out of the crate on her own, went into the yard to potty and did some exploring, came in and ate breakfast and is now exploring the house. She has even played with her tennis ball a bit.
I'm feeling more confident in her ability to acclimate now, at midnight last night I was seriously worried about her.
it will come-love overcomes all
My Loverboy I have seen twice since he went to live with Mary(2 1/2 hrs away) and he is always glad to see me. It will come with Daisy. Lover left us at about 15 weeks so he was gone a little over a year so not as long as your little girl. Whats so weird is with Lover when the previous owner and I had him we couldn't get adequate weight on him to put him in the show ring-living with Mary he is 65 lbs-which we can only attribute to he is obviously a dog who prefers to be the only dog. Mary spoils him rotten-he eats Mcdoubles and KFC quite often LOL. Good luck with Daisy.

How old is she? I ask because I had a 18 mth old
show prospect male returned(he didn't pan out for show) and Lover walked in my house and made himself right at home. He went down the hallway right off to my puppy room where he was raised. They have a wonderful memory and she should remember you. I don't know if they truly remember or if they just feel "comfortable". I never had an issue with my boy returned-he was socialized beautifully-we had to work on manners a little(jumping up and humping LOL) but I already had a home lined up when he was returned. He spent 2 mths with me as I really wanted to make sure of his temperament in different settings, got him vet checked and he now lives in his new home with Mary and Jezebel the cat. I am just glad Lover was returned to me. It is a relief to know where our babies are and they are taken care of. I, like you have a contract that states I get puppy back in the event they can't keep it. I am always worried someone will disregard that part of my contract. Prayers you can find a good home for Daisy.

How sad for the family that they couldn't keep her.---
But, it probably won't take her too long to remember you and her siblings. She's in a very wonderful home with you Robin, so that will certainly make her transition easier.

Well, they did the right thing

Thank-you - nm
Yes -
It is in my contract that the dog be returned to me. Several times I have had dogs returned to me and always the people were so thankful to have that available to them. They could concentrate on fixing what was happening in their life and know the dog would be cared for and loved.
Twice over the years I have had people ignore that part of my placement contract and fortunately both times have been contacted by the new people that got the dog.
In one case I felt the new family would be a good match for him and they have kept in contact with me. In the other case the couple got the dog with the intent to breed her (the person I placed her with was also under contract to have her spayed, but didn't do it) and called wanting her Limited Registration to be lifted. We went round and round over her and finally when I threatened to get the Law involved, they accepted $300 from me to get her back. Sucks that I had to pay to get my own dog returned to me, but better that than them breeding her anyway and selling pups w/o papers.
I agree, Brian
It is heartbreaking for both parties, the dog and the people to give them back. It is just you hope it work's out the first time.
Re: Daisy has returned home
It is wonderful that you were able to take this beautiful baby back. I am sure there are times when the breeder is unable to. To me it would be like giving up one of my biological offspring, probably harder at this point lol. I would probably have to be homeless, jobless and anything else you could think of before giving them up could even begin to enter my head. Thank god there are breeders and rescuers like you. God knows what he is doing--you are blessed.
I find that.....
when someone returns a dog for any reason back to the breeder or a great rescue that I find myself happy that the person made that choice instead of giving to just anyone or droppping off at the pound. So glad the owners made the

right decision and returned her to you.
Brian, Oscar, and Sugar.
That has to be so confusing for her...awwwwww
Poor Daisy...hope she settles in quickly. I always imagine how people and animals must feel when things like this happen. Imagine if all of a sudden we were left someplace else. Animals have feelings too.
Aw...frustrating for these little ones, but at least she will
hopefully have some playmates to distract her.
