experiences, possible symtoms, possible rough ideas on surgery costs(just so I don't faint, if this is needed when the vet tells me... always embarassing in a vet office)
and web sites..."anything" about palate issues in bullies...
here is what I am seeing in Cody...not so much when he is sleeping..does snore but then don't they all?
when awake heavy breathing, tongue always out(don't think it fits in mouth),loud gurging sounds, while standing or walking..difficulty eating...does eat but tosses his treats and food around till he swallows it with head tosses...,now that he is sorta waking from his bad dream..so to speak..he is very happy and excites easily...the least bit of play only minutes ..(and he's not really rough housing..just slow wrestling..and playbowing..)he starts gasping ..and gurgling loudly..and his bark?is different sot of a growly gurgle ack...tongue falls out even further...drinks tons of water...and then often vomits up white foam or bile ...his normal bullie sounds are very loud...( I don't mind that ..they are actually quite adorabull unless they are not healthy...)it just seems like he shouldn't need to work so hard at breathing...any help or informatiom...I'm gathering here...thanks....ce
thanks ...question?
I will indeed try many of the ideas you shared....to relieve Cody's breathing....I know keeping him calm would help..but he is indeed like Judy said...a new pupster and everything is discovery right now..and he finds it all just joyful..he lives in the land of wow..and curious..and too much fun...
My question...I am going to get out the saws and wood..and make Cody a raised bowl holder...what height should I work for?or where on Cody should the bowls line up?thanks hugs to Jez..and love ya......ce
I agree on the food bowl
Jez had to have palate surgery, but I honestly can't remember how much it cost. She had been to the vet so many times before she turned two I can't remember. All I know is Mastercard wanted to know if I was buying a vet clinic and interested in a small business loan! My home remedies that I use are when Jez starts hacking is puppy massage, around her ears and down her neck. I also pound on her sides and her back with my hands cupped like you would do with an MS child to loosen any fluid that can be building up in her lungs, I nebulizer her twice a day 5 minutes a day and she definitely eats and drinks from an elevated food bowl. Wendy made one for me to my specifications so it would be high enough. So far so good. No incidents in almost a year.
Happiness
He is for the first time allowed to be happy and enjoy life. Not for what he can give someone but for just living in peace and joy. Everying is new to him he is probably like a little puppy discovering the world.
I'm so glad we got him out.
thanks...his food is raised..but I will raise his water....
I agree this isn't something that just happened...
and I know he will have to be alot healthier before any surgery of any sort is considered even neutering..my main concern with his breathing..is he's just getting to be so filled with daily delight..that he finds everything fascinating..and gets very over excited within merely a couple of minutes...and then he wheezes and gasps and gurgles till his tongue drags and he can hardly stand...(the standing also due to some weak muscles in his hind legs and bum) ......and keeping him calm isn't easy he's a HAPPY GUY...thanks again...ce
Ce..
Before you go the surgery route with Cody right now, try raising his bowls, food and water. Sometimes this helps. I wouldnt put him through too much at this point, obvioulsy his palate,if surgery is needed, as been that way for quite sometime and he is doing ok, so to say!
call and ask
We had Sheldon's palate checked, thankfully he doesn't need the surgery. Before our appointment, though, I called the office and asked for a ballpark figure. They quoted me $175, which sounded really cheap. Smooches to Cody, Mojo and the rest of the yelpsters
Joanna & Sheldon
Ce sounds like..
This could be a very bad elongated soft palet, symtoms really sound like surgery may be the only option. Please keep us posted....cuddles to your pupsters.
