Collie case .... sentencing is done. It's over.

Athena is not going to appeal .... with these stipulations.

She gets to keep Panache (collie), Kryptonite (fox terrier) and one cat. These three must be spayed/neutered before leaving Montana.

There will be no fines or jail time, BUT the couple are on a 10 year probation and cannot own any other animals during that time.

Also remember, AKC has suspended them and they have lost every shred of respect they may have had earlier from the canine communties.

The collies (and the other dogs and cats) will now be adopted to new homes! I will have pictures available to share in the next few days .... "before" and "after" from Camp Collie. E-mail me if you're interested in seeing them later.

hum...gotta love those productive dream walks.....

Funny thing about dreams, sometimes they seem so real n/m

Funny thing about the fox terrier .....

Kryptonite ...

He's one of the pooches that traveled upfront in the truck cab with the defendants. Not too long after the dogs were seized, this particular dog "disappeared" only long enough to be neutered and returned. Nobody's really talking about it much, though one volunteer casually mentioned that she had a "dream" about something like that happening.

Cracks me up!

Gail, thanks for the update, but I wonder why the court

has allowed them to keep 3 of the animals. The great news is, these dogs can now go to homes. The people running the Collie Camp must be so relieved. They all scored major heaven points for this one.

Re: Collie case

It's possible the officials were looking at the cost of an appeal ... continued care for that many dogs through an appeal process, etc. I personally didn't hold out alot of hope for big fines. You know that saying, "Can't get blood out of a turnip."

These people are already suspended by AKC, and I'm confident the collier fanciers and animal protection organizations will keep a close eye on them as well, no matter where they go.

Collie case

I remember when this first happened! I cannot believe that they got off so easily. First, they should not be allowed any pets. Secondly, even if they are on probation, they can move to another state, and start all over again. This has happened in other cases.
But, maybe this time it will be different. We can only hope and pray that it will.
Thank you for keeping us updated on the progess of this case!!

Good--but they should not even get one pet

so happy all can have a GOOD home now

case closed....My most desired sentence for all these

types is just what they got...however I would rather it be for life..not just 10 years...and I'm a bit appalled they can keep any pets...but for the most part at least they didn't just walk..and that is great news..thank you so much ..for the update....ce
