Hi all just wondering if it is just me who only puts my dogs collars on when i walk them - then they are inside or in the garden i do not put their collars on.
silly question but this will not be a problem..will it?

during the day because she was acting like a moron and fighting with our other dog. One day she got it caught on her crate and was stuck until I got her free. I would not leave anything on them if you aren't around.
because they can be a choking hazard in the house if they catch on something and you aren't right there to help them. My niece's dog jumped to put his feet on the kitchen counter and hung himself on a drawer knob. Luckily she was right there to save him. No collars in the house unless they are the break away kind, which you can get online.
In the car because if there was an accident and the dogs got out, I want someone to be able to catch them.

our dogs only where collars when they go out, I worry too much about them catching a collar on something while I'm not home and quite frankly it can't be that comfortable for them either

Gus is the only one that wears a harness all the time..no matter what I have to with him being deaf and needing to grab him in case of an emergency or something..

if you didn't have some kind of collar on them?
Mine never have collars on, although I have collars for all of them. I have once in a great while put a collar on a young one in the camper because we had a serious accident with Ester when she was young.
I usually use a Mendota rope leash when I walk them but sometimes I will use a collar and a flexi-lead. Just depends on where we are at and if they are going out to potty, exercise or a quick walk.

We only put his collar on when we take him to camp or when we will be out during the summer--mainly in case he gets away we want some id on him--in addition to his chip But during normal times--we only put his harness on when we are taking him out or for short walks

I only put her harness on her when she goes outside also. Never been a problem for us.
That said, if we are visiting somewhere or we have a house full of people, I generally put a collar on her just in case I need to grab her for some reason.

wearing her collar when we leave her alone at home. I just worry if there would be a storm anything she has her collar on with her name, her pet insurance and vacination tags.

Buddy and Brother are chipped. Buddy does wear a nylon strap collar for the doggie door opener. I gotta do something there cause he has almost out grown it, and Brother has a remote collar too, but he follows Bud out the door as he only goes out with Bubby. They go for a walk in their car harnesses paired. I'd only do the collar thing for a picture.
Dozer wears his collar all the time except baths..n/m
Meaty has a harness (to keep pressure off the trachea)--indoors,
we started putting Audrey's harness on

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

I think it's safer indoors if they do not have it on. There's a risk of it getting caught on something if it's on. =)
