A cat scratched my bully's eye (I think)

A few hours ago I was at my mom's house and it was very dark - all the sudden a stray cat is right in front of Jackson and it scared the heck out of them both and they jumped. Well, on the way home Jackson started to wink and rub his eye. He seems to be fine, but won't really open his eye much and I have only seen what I think might be a scratch twice. I've been trying to look for the past hour. He has so many allergies that he does wink some times, but I am just worried. Do I take him to the ER?

The last time we went to the ER they held him down and he went into respitory arrest because he choked on his dangley thing. So, I am aprehensive about taking him there agaain. I called and they said it was my call whether or not to wait until tomorrow to take him to the regular vet.

If the cat did scratch his eye, is it something that can wait until the morning? I don't want anything to happen to his eye sight, but I don't want to pay $300 for something that isn't even there. Thoughts?!

Thanks for any help!!

Blackjack got it from our cat

We saw the incident happen, but did not notice him going after his eye for a couple of days. They did a stain to determine if there was any in his eye and sent us home with eye drops and antibotics. He was good as new in a couple of days. Let us know how the vet visit goes.

Thank you

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the input. I've still been trying to get a peek and he seems not to be in any pain. I got out the flash light to look, but of course he is still playful enough that he just opened his eyes wide to chase that light!

He's definitely not bleeding and I will take him to the vet tomorrow.

Thank you again!

Take him to your reg vet in AM...

He likely does have a corneal scratch which is painful and needs medication...depending on how severe the injury is, the vet may just send him home with a/b's or he may sew up the 3rd eyelid in a "temporary bandage" fashion which will keep the constant blinking from irritating the sore, and help it heal better. This procedure is meant to last 1-2 weeks only and you still have to put antibiotic in the eye 3-4xday, but I don't think the ER could do anything more than this, unless of course the eye is bleeding fromthe eyeball in which case he's in danger of losing the eye entirely and it is a true emergency...likely it isn't. Insist on seeing your vet tomorrow, tho.
