I always thought of piebald a meaning patches of color, but I am not nearly as knowledgable about bulldogs as you are! He is probably just at 30% white, he's got a white belly, feet, and that cute stripe on his leg, and except for his head his entire back side is brindle. Thank you so much for educating me on this issue, as I have been wondering about it for a long time.

He would be considered fawn brindle and white piebald...meaning he is almost piebald..more than 30 % white marking on his body .Anyone correct me if I am wrong just incase we all have a different view. Brindle can be any base color with either black or another color running thru it ...in a well distributed pattern with clear margins per say. Cassie base color is black or heavy black brindle marked with red color. Red and fawn are two diffirent colors. You can have fawn brindles red brindles almost a "grey" or "mousy" brindle I have seen.It usually is not very heavy pigmented..meaning the black brindleing marks a very light almost washing into the fawn color. That's just about the brindles..I won't go on about other colors. Here's a pic of her belly... Susan Somers http://rocksteadysbulldogs.tripod.com

We actually showed her in a puppy match last month in Mason City where she earned a Group1 under Breeder Judge Stewart Wagner. She was a hoot around the ring! Very much a "hoover" on the mat. She's a little longer in length of body but is very balcned and a mature head & jaw for a 6 mth pup. We will keep our fingers crossed she stays together as she grows. Thankyou for the compliments. Susan,
I have always wondered what the difference between red brindle and fawn brindle was. So then fawn brindle is the opposite of what you described...the base color is fawn, with the brindle part being black? What is just plain brindle, then? Am I right to describe Sheldon as Fawn Brindle & White? His papers just say Brindle & White. Thanks.

Joanna, She is considered a red brindle and white but her base color is the black with the red being the brindle part. Her coat is very very shiny and thick. Her undercoat skin is also pigmented black also. Many bully lines today are loosing pigment or having difficulty with pigment coming in. I purchased her as a newborn knowing the lines were full of pigment something I would like to bring back to my lines as well. It may be a wivestale but good solid or dark coat& pigment color dogs of many breeds do not suffer the skin issues as lighter dogs do.Her sire is a solid red and mom is a red brindle and white. I'll post a pic of her belly which was alomst solid black as a newborn.. Susan Somers http://rocksteadysbulldogs.tripod.com
Thanks Ce..they both are sweet! Bullies can brighten any dull day..just a head tilt to the side and a soft paw on the knee....warms any heart! Kiss to Cody!! He's looking great! Susan Somers http://rocksteadysbulldogs.tripod.com
