Carpet to Hard floors.. Dogs scared

Anyone else deal with this. How long does it take them to adjust. I feel bad for them, but what are you going to do. I'm going with the laminate flooring to help with the smell and it should be better for all of us. They are just not used to the floor.

Two of my dogs had a hard time with the wood floor

Boscoe kept slipping, sliding and falling all over the place. Tinker just stood in the kitchen and stared at it. I ended up going to the dollar store and buying lots of small rugs to throw around the room for them until they got used to it.

dont baby them.

you can put a few rugs around for them to walk rug to rug. keep the nails short and walk them on a leash around the flooring

Figured that

They are on the couch, but it will take them some time to get used to this. What can ya doo..

It all depends on your dogs' personalities

Some dogs will adjust to this change sooner than others. If they are really scared, don't force them to stay on the flooring. Get them on carpet or on anything where they are more comfortable. You can try giving them some yummy treats if they get brave enough to get close or set a paw or two on the flooring. Just don't force them onto the flooring if they are really scared. Let them take all the time in the world to get used to this.

We didn't have any problems...

My big guy Scruffy realized very quickly that he couldn't take the corners too fast when they are being crazy but other than that, we haven't had any major problems. Tessie, my bulldog, gets around fine including up and down the hardwood stairs.

You can always put an area rug down.
