Pat re: bones
Yes, you can give the bones raw.

Infact I have seen chicken necks raw, you don't want to give dried chicken/turkey bones, but from what I have read the raw ones are ok.
And I know Liz feeds chicken backs, bones and all!
I can't wait to see Stella chomp into some raw chicken.

Hi Pat... a few raw links for you.
I think you're going to be better served reading up on raw than asking for snippets of advice. Personally, I've never fed "some" raw. I was always under the impression there was really no point. Either do all or nothing. That it wasn't good to mix. But that theory has most likely changed since I started years ago.
Here are some good links:

thanks Judy...that is very informative..
thanks again for the info
was just wandering to give Gus some kind of neat treat for a change
can see all my dogs loving some of these for a change..
Gus is just not the commerical type of type bully..at all.
he is great with the knuckle bones..
so he will likely love to try these others
if there are bones and it is raw ..does it matter..
like say Chicken or something like that..
I did talk to a bulldog show breeder one time if I remember correctly she gave her show bulldogs a whole raw turkey on occasion. does that sound right to you?? she has lots of show dogs there and I believe she feeds raw to all her dogs on a regular basis. I thought it sounded odd to give them a chopped up whole turkey at the time and did not ask any questions..totally forgot to be honest.
Judy - Question
What do you use to get the Omega 3 oils? Is there something you could suggest besides Salmon oil?
your right tiffany.....
if your giving raw liver, gizzards what we call oranga meat this is only 10% of our diet....i ave to very very careful with liver as wilson gets very sick.....
what i love is i cut a beef heart into strips then freeze them...and i use them as treats....not alot...but my boys really enjoy frozen beef heart....
you can also do it with chicken cut them into long stripes and freeze them....
actually you could do it with any meat....
oh, ok sorry
from what I have read organs and gizzards are fine but there is a percentage you should give because they are so "rich"

HI there...tried the beef marrow but was wandering about kidneys
gizzards and things like that
I would think that most dogs can eat all of this stuff
either on a raw or regular diet
but hope someone jumps in here and gives me the OK ..lol to go ahead and try it ..
seems that Gus loves real food so thinking some of this he might just like some of these things
not into going all raw but on occasion...might be nice to give them a raw treat ..
thanks for your help
Hey Pat
Stella has been having so many allergy issues that I have decided to go completely raw.

There is alot of confusing/conflicting info out there and I found it a little hard to wade through it.
I am sure you will get lots of great info from the others here who are so knowledgeable.
I gave Stella her first Beef Marrow bone fresh from the grocery store, i bought it in the meat area and they had them cut up and ready to go in a package.
SHE DIED when I gave it to her.
The funniest thing is that the kitten came in and started licking the marrow out and Stella stood back and watched and waited until she was done with it!
so maybe Gus would enjoy that?
Good luck
