The way to find out if your dog has a food allergy is to start feeding one a low allergy food like fish & potato or lamb & rice. Feed NOTHING else, no scraps and no treats, nothing but the food & water. If the allergies go away on the food then you can very slowly introduce one food at a time to see if there's a reaction.
The vet uses Epi Soothe Shampoo and it says for itchy skin. It smells great. That's why I got it. Flora always came home smelling good longer with it and I asked what they used. She has done well with it, but really isn't itchy to start with fortunately or smelly compared to my previous bully, Abby who was allergic to fleas and grass(There's a house dog for you!)

Try to find a human grade food with the least ingredients in it like Duck and Potato. These types of food usually have just those two ingredients and rosemary, canola oil and vit. E. Treats should be the same, no preservatives. Preservatives and by-products are terrible for dogs.

Like I said, Lincoln use to itch year round. For him the oatmeal baths helped, though. He is now on a very low dose of Prednisolone which is a steroid that I give to him whenever he starts to get itchy. He gets itchy inbetween his toes and on his back. We also changed his food to Eukanuba K/O which has kangaroo meat in it for sensative skin and you can only get this through your vet. The combination of the Pred, the K/O, and giving him a derm cap every day has stopped his itchy all together. I think you just have to try a combination of things until you find one that works for your bully. We had several tries until we got it right so keep doing different things. I would think it's due to allergies, though. Good luck!
Francodex Oatmeal shampoo & creme rinse. (from the pet store) Maybe you could use this till you get to the vet and get what was suggested below from the vet.

we use some that can only be bought from the vet but it's still oatmeal shampoo. It has worked wonders for Lincoln's coat which use to be itchy year round. I think any version of oatmeal shampoo will help you out. Otherwise, I think Jane gave you some great advice! Hope these all help!
Of my four bullies, I have one that has in the past had very itchy skin, switched to Canidae and he does great. Canidae is all natural, human grade food, check out their web site www.canidae.com

Oscar is allergic to lamb and rice. Oreo is allergic to corn. There is a shampoo calle relief that I get from the vet that is specifically for itching. Is it possible she's allergic to Frontline? Oscar had a wicked case of hives after I put it on him - lasted for three weeks.
Frontline.
Yes it is possible for a dog to be allergice to Frontline.

What type of things should I look for in food?
What types of things in foods are common for bulldogs to be allergic to?
You could try..
Selsun Blue shampoo, it will help the itch also. If it doesnt go away once the season has calmed down then it could be a food allergy.
It could just be allergies...

I am trying most of that already
I have been giving her benadryl.
I give her baths with an oatmeal shampoo. It isn't anything from the vet though, just one you can buy from the store.
And I have a liquid supplement that you put on her food that has fish oil and some sort of fatty acid.
I heard someone suggest The Missing Link. Is that any good?
She is also on frontline, so it shouldn't have anything to due with fleas. Which really has me wondering why she is all of the sudden itching so much.
Other stuff that might help
Hi,
You can give her 1 Benedryl every 12 hours to help with the ithing until you get her to the vet.
You can also give her fish oil to help her skin & coat. It comes in gelcap form at most drug stores. Buy the generic stuff. It's inexpensive.
You might consider changing dog foods. I don't know what you're feeding but you may want a lamb & rice or a fish & potato based food.
The oatmeal shampoo or a good medicated shampoo is good for temporary relief.
Good luck.
I think no one else responded because we all AGREE! =)
I was suggested...
