Brown recluse spider bite

I ask a question last night about interdigital cysts and no one responded ,I just wanted to let you all know it was a Brown recluse spider bite . I was scared to death when the vet told me the results of there test, but thank god every thing will be just fine ,it amazes me me to know my girl could survive that, they are bad bad spiders, Just thought I would let you all know . If you want to see a picture i will post one . Anyway i will learn not to take any little spot for granted. It started out small but it now is the size of a quarter.

Those are pretty nasty huh!

When I went to college in Colorado-they told us they had poisonus spiders there-hmmm I hate spiders as it is and now I had to watch out for poison ones lol! Never did see one but I heard nothing but awful things about them! Glad all is well!

There was a horrible article in People magazine about a woman wh

She ended losing both arms and both legs. If that itself wasn't bad enough, she had several very young children she could no longer take care of. That was one of the worst things I've ever read.

One killed my neighbor's greyhound -- it was in their garage

They kept the dog in their garage, and garages are a favorite place for spiders. It was a terrible, slow death. The tissue near the bite kept dying more and more. They took the dog to LSU's vet school but they could not save it.

I normally like spiders, since we get so many mosquitoes down here. But those things scare the hell out of me.

As fragile as the breed is I feel blessed that she survived. We

Yes, you are exactly right...

It is an enzyme/venom. The problem usually is that it can cause such a horrific infection it can cause death. On the show I watched, the lady lost her leg!!! That's why you're so lucky! And they like to hide in things (like all spiders do I would image) but that's why its called a "recluse". They are excellent hiders. I bet your girl was exploring and disturbed it. Good thing your vet is on the ball.

did you see the pic, it started small ,and grew, and grew. Awful

n\m

yes i live in Ga , and

it is an Enzyme like that of a rattel snake when the venom is injected it causes the breakdown ( deteriation)of the tissue around the bite . That was what i understood anyway.

Ooh, It is big and ugly.

Good thing you took him to the vet. I hope it gets better soon.

no problem, i had no idea myself. n\m

Re: Brown recluse spider bite

OMG What did the spot look like. My Angus ad this pump look like. My Angus has a bump the size silver dollar but on his hind leg. We had no idea what it was so we took him the the vet this weekend. It was a bite. they didnt run any test. said it was a bite or a bee sting. please take a pic and POST

Poor baby...

... I was going to respond to your post last night, because since interdigital means "between toe" (inter=between, digit=obvious) it wasn't really possible to have what is an interdigital cyst on one's LEG. But that wouldn't have done any good because I couldn't help you as to what it ACTUALLY was! I hoped someone else would come to the rescue...

I'm so sorry you were so scared but glad you found out what it was. SO glad she's OK! And so STRONG! How very scary... a brown recluse spider sounds AWFUL!

The brown recluse...

I saw a show on the Discovery Channel about this spider. It looks almost exactly like a harmless little brown house spider, but the recluse can kill a human if the Drs dont realize what is wrong and treat it. A person can feel really sick for a few weeks, like the flu, and get progressivly worse. Anyway, they can be found anywhere (I think Shane lives in Ga) but they are more common out west, in fact the show I watched was taped in both NM & AZ. They like cardboard boxes and attics especially. Shane, Im so glad your princess is going to be OK.

I honestly have no idea

But I hope she starts feeling better soon.

poor thing

How scary. How did they know it was a spider bite, let alone what type of spider? Hope your bully does OK, am glad you know what it is and the Vet has your bully on treatment. Are these spiders common? I don't know anything about them. Take care, Nettie

Also...

where do you think he got it? I read your post last nite, but didn't have any idea what it could be, sorry!

yes he gave her a shot and put he on TRYPZYME-V , ( is that Good

Yes, post a picture, please.

I am sorry your little fellow got bitten. Do you just have to do local treatment, or did he give you anything for it? I hope he gets better soon.

how scary

those bites are NASTY, the venom continues to eat away at the tissue...can turn bad very quickly.
I'm glad you got the help she needed, and that she'll be alright.
Yuck, i'm no fan of spiders, i'm actually very afraid of them....give me a snake anyday..

Wow, your poor baby!

Is the spot still getting bigger? Does she have to take any medicine or will it get better on its own? Give her lots of special treats, she's a trooper!
