You use Nutro dog food, right? Rich said that he read a post that once you switched to Nutro you didn't have to worry about tear stains anymore?
What kind do you use? I found Nutro Max and Nutro Natural Choice and then each of those have different types to choose from! Can you lend me a hand? We are thinking about switching food again because our bullies tear stains are horrible and they are VERY gassy.
And another question--is there a certain ingredient in dog food that causes gas? Is it the corn? Just wondering if you know---nice topic, I know!
Love them Bullies!

About the protein content...
I see that it has 25% per cup, and earlier there had been a discussion about bulldogs not needing as much protein as other dogs since they don't consume as much energy (being in-door doggies and all)... any thoughts? I'd like to change but am concerned about that.

Re: Brian another question for you-
Well if there is a miracle cure please let me know first and we can market it and retire!. I know the switch in food did help with the tear stains but to be honest she never had REAL bad tear stains. I think alot of her being so white was passed down from he grandma who is still today very white. I was told by a couple of breeders to add Parsley in their food (which I do) and some use antibiotics(which I don't really like to use!). I wished I could help out more but I have limited experience and only know what has worked for me.
Brian another question for you-
Hi Brian,
I asked this question on a previous thread way down the line somewhere, i hope you dont mind me asking again. Is there anything else that you do to keep Dotties tear stains at bay? I want Dolly's face to be white as snow like Dotties. Do you have any special routine for cleaning her wrinkles? Is there a miracle cure for tear stains?
Thanks again in advance,
natalie
I reccommend....

Oh, good, Brian!
I am glad someone else adds meat to the dog food. Flora was raised that way and is happiest.
Re: questions for you
I have tried Nutro & Iams but switched over to Wellness Lamb & Rice, it's a green bag. I really like this food and so far I'm having good results. Dottie is picky about her food so I boil chicken or Liver and ad eighter with some broth to their food. I'm not sure about the gas!, to be honest neighter of my dogs have ever really had a gas problem and I don't really know if it's related to the food.
I have been told that corn can cause allergies along with wheat and that is one of the reasons I have switched to Wellness. I does cost a little more than Nutro or Iams but I think it's worth it.
Here is the description of the food. I have highlighted why I switched to Wellness!
Freedom! HORMONE FREE, STEROID FREE, and ANTIBIOTIC FREE. At Old Mother Hubbard, we know you recognize the relationship between what you eat and how you feel. You read labels, check ingredients, avoid chemical additives. We give the same careful consideration to what your pet eats. It's a difference you can see and they can taste. As the name suggests, the primary source of protein and first ingredient in this delicious formula is New Zealand lamb. Other yummy ingredients include flax seed, barley and peas. It's a menu for goodness and a recipe for health. Your dog will enjoy the difference 100% whole foods and 100% human grade ingredients will make in their lives.
