Lambert has become a skittish scaredy cat! If I rustle a plastic bag, drop a spoon or god forbid I leave the
laundry basket in the hall where it normally doesn't sit, Lambert runs for
the hills and hides under the bed. He spends most of his time under there
lately. He is sooo afraid of everything. He especially doesn't like sudden noises or big inanimate objects. I know Zimmer is scared of outdoor noises. Any other bullies go through this? And how long did it last?
Thanks!
Kristen & Lambert
i dunno
you might just traumatize him for life...lol.

Personally, I think ignoring the fear and trying to get him to focus on other things might be the best. He will probaly just outgrow this.
If you stay upbeat and nonchalant he will realize there is nothing to worry about.

Lambert will be 1 year old in exactly a month...
at 4 - 6 months, he was afraid of nothing!!!
Kristen & Lambert
how old is he?
i heard about 4-6 months they have a FEAR stage, but she is over 6 months, now...
I will...thanks!! What do you think about...
if I have my husband hold him while i rustle bags and drop silverware and show him it won't hurt him?
Kristen & Lambert
lol
what a big wuss, huh...LOL
what I meant is, do not follow him and talk "baby" to him, like "oh poor boy, come on out, pooooor baby", that type of thing.
Responding like that to fears, will only make them more "real" to him...hehe.
Just be upbeat and non-chalant about it, its just a phase most likely, although I bet it must be quite funny seeing this big and handsome dude take off like this over such things...hehe
Lu
that is EXACTLY what Lambert does
if we get a package and there is a new box in the kitchen or if the kids drag down their blow up beds or anything like that, he give it the evil eye and slinks around it (putting a lot of distance between him and the object) and when he is "out of harms way", then he runs!! Same with clanking dishes. Once I dropped a bag of groceries and that was it!!!!
Kristen & Lambert
I couldn't baby him if I wanted to because he takes off like a b
lol!
Kristen & Lambert
our girls are big scaredy cats...or dogs! LOL
Lucy - hears a dish clank, runs in the other room, and will NOT come in the kitchen. We bought a patio set and the box was on the ground outside, they both slouched past it!
the best...
thing to do about this, imho, is to ignore it completly.

If you baby him about it, you will just reinforce his thought that there IS something to worry about.
Just be upbeat and try to make him focus on other things...
Lu
Thanks for the reassurance guys...
what worried me is that this behavior just recently started. He never used to be scared like this.

Henry...
Is totally like this. I was really worried because he is scared to death if I open up a plastic bag or run the vacume. He hides forever. It seems as time goes on he is less of a scaredy cat but I think it will take time and I do think it is a phase. If I ignore it he seems to come around more than if I baby him about it.Good luck and give Lamby a squeeze from me!!
Kristen....MacKenzie is a little sissy
too. Plastic bags are a real monster. He doesn't hide under the bed but Lynn said it is a phase they go through. Just need to do alot of reasuring to show them these things aren't going to get them. I let Kenz sniff anything that frightens him on his own terms.
Petie too!!
Petie is afraid of everything..especially if there is a box on the counter..he even barks at the moon...I have alot of candle holders and vases at my house and on the floor and he is scared to death of them...
Brutus is the same way!
I always thought it was kinda strange or I did something wrong when he was a pup. Good to see others have the same thing
Re: Big Scaredy Cat...please tell me it is just a phase...
That same thing happend to Baxter. All of a sudden he is so jumpy. He was scared of a magazine the other day and yesterday it was a deck of cards lol. I guess its just a faze.
Sweet Pea is scared of Aluminum Foil!
She runs away everytime we get it out!
come on over!!
You and the girls is welcome. Maybe I won't be scared if you all are wif me...
