best way to soften kibble ?

just curious how you all soften kibble if you need to. Do you pour hot water over the amt you feed, let it sit, mash it up, then feed when it is cooled down? Or do you just soften the kibble, dump the water and feed it in soft pieces rather than mashing?

Do you do one meal at a time or a bunch and make portions and refridgerate and then measure out waht you need, nuke to warm it and feed?

Not Warm Water

Read the package before using warm/hot water. We fed Eagle Pack Holistic and on the package it stated not to use warm water-it would kill some of the beneficial bateria in the food.

Dogmom Sue

we do this for our senior

bassett hound. We grind it up in a food grinder and put warm water on it. Just enough to get the consistencey od canned food. Hope this helps.

depends on how old

6-7 weeks put the kibble in a bowel with a lid, and fill with hot water to the top of the kibble. I put several in the fridg for feeding through the day.

7-8 weeks i put hot water over the food and let cool and feed, about 1/2 as much as the previous weeks.

Younger like 4-5 weeks then i grind it in the sivler bullet.

and let sit. Do you feed Canidae? If so it is really hard to soften.

I didn't need to soften Cleo's food but I did add hot water and I used Merrick canned food. She really liked Granny's Pot Pie and she is a picky eater.I didn't mash it.

I use warm tap water...

I used to use boiling water or broth, but I read that can destroy some of the nutrients. Now, I soak with warm tap water (stirring occasionally) for a half hour before I feed. No mashing - that would be spoiling the dogs! LOL

A lil' bit of warmed up homemade chicken broth...

Otie LOVES it but I try not to make it a habit cuz he starts to demand it! lol Spoiled brat!
