Best crate brand?

Does anyone know if the Precision crates are sturdy? I currently have Midwest crates and the crate pans are not any good in them and crack really easily. I was thinking when I went to Petco I saw a Precision (it could have been Petco's brand)and the crate pan looked a lot more sturdy then the Midwest pans. Anyways was just wondering if anyone has the Precision crates and if the pans are sturdy and don't crack very easily.

I like

my precision crates. I was able to get the 2 that fit just right in the back of our vehicle on ebay. Even with shipping they were a bargain. Would like to find another of them to have collapsed to carry in to shows and be able to leave the others in the car.
They are very sturdy (heavier gauge wire than other brands I use in the house) and I've had no problems with the pans. But I haven't really had any issues pans in the other crates (fortunately I don't have chewers). I put a piece of carpet between the pan and the wire bottom, this seems to help support the pan and keep it from wearing on the wire.

Gretl has a Precision right now and I really love it.

So much better than whatever brand I had for Grover... I really don't want to move Gretl into it because this one is so much nicer. happy.gif

I use Precision suitcase crates for car travel/shows

The 3000 is the perfect size for your average sized bulldog. I will put my bigger boy in there for short trips, but I use a Midwest Ultima 30" crate when he's going to be in there for a long time. The Precision ones are a little bit smaller than your typical 30" crate (30x19x21 instead of 30x21x24). I can fit two of them (either 2 Precision or 1 Precision and a Midwest) side by side in the back of my 4Runner with room to spare on the sides for my other show gear. They're pretty heavy duty and they collapse down flat in just a few seconds. The tray in them is a durable plastic, which my chewers haven't even attempted to chew on.

For home use, I use the regular Midwest double or triple door crates--just for the convenience of having a door on whatever side works best. They don't hold up as well for lugging in and out of shows, though. The Ultima series are really heavy duty, but they cost more and they're significantly heavier.

Yes... They are nice crates

The next ones I get will be Precision crates.
