Submitted by luvwinnie on April 21, 2010 - 12:31ampred tends to makes dogs grumpy who already have a tendency towards aggression. Hooch's is fear based...it didn't just "disappear" miraculously off the pred but on it he was SOOOO much worse and off MUCH MUCH better. It still took training, love and patience...and time for him to feel safe and much less reactive.

We called Belle "Sharkey" on pred...
mean girl! Court said she had "Roid Rage." She still barks, but it's nothing like it was when she was on pred. Luckily the other dogs all ignored her, so it wasn't a big issue. Poor Junior is still afraid of her even though she is harmless. She can't move fast enough to get anyone. She never attacked or drew blood, but she did threaten the others. Of course she never grumped at Roxy because she knows Roxy would rip her little head off. Nobody messes with the queen.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.
