Angus not so popular today at the dog park...
Submitted by Anonymous on April 20, 2010 - 5:25pmWhat can be done about my lil guy and his bum sniffing, pee pee licking problem. It gets some people upset at the park. I am all over him (pulling him away) but he is sniffing way more than the other doggies at the park. Today this lady said Bullgods were weird!!
RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!! I said very nice that I would nevr call her dog "weird". They just looked and me like I was the weirdo...
I feel so bad !!!

Don't worry, Angus is fine.
Maybe if people kept their dogs as clean as Angus then he would n't have to smell them

If Angus is intact, his behavior is definately hormone driven. Be very careful, some dogs are not receptive to this kind of greeting. Keep a leash on him, before he begins to sniff/lick gently pull him back, mark the behavior with saying "too bad" or "that's it" etc. Put him in a sit, when he settles release him, if he starts again, repeat. It is not going to be easy and it will take time. He will eventually learn he needs to behave to keep his freedom.

Bruno is always sniffing or doing something nasty to our boxer! Sometimes i squirt him with water to stop him , specially when there is company. The only problem is he loves to put the squirt water in his mouth! so when he gets squirt he thinks its a treat for him to get a drink! Your not wierd--they just dont understand our children type of people! How rude--just kidding--some people just dont understand-- but i certainly do. specially when bruno heads to the barn to find horse Ka ka and everyone is watching!
