Altman's English Bulldogs

Hi All. I am a very proud owner of a 1 year old Altmans bulldog and I am trying to find more info and people involved with the breed. Mostly I am finding very bitter sounding English bully people posting negative comments. I have had AKC english bullies my whole life, and love the breed, but I am now completly sold on the Altmans. My girl has all the same personality traits of the bulldog, without any of the health problems. She is more english looking than american, and is more energetic than my golden retreiver. I am very educated when it comes to dogs, including training and I was a vet assistant for a long time. I can't find a thing wrong with this breed, except that there seems to be a decided lack of (positive) information about it. I did read one old posting from last year where someone commented that it is a new breed, not a "mutt", and aren't ALL breeds decendant from crosses? I would love to hear from some Altmans people. Thanks for the time!

Sammy I think they look great,

If the dog is happy, healthy and a great friend to you then it should not matter. No matter which type of dog it is they all ned the same amount of love and care.

Handsome dogs.

they look huge. There was a giant bulldog like that at the Beautiful Bulldog Pageant in Long Beach last year.

Doubt it

The ILP is used to register pure bred dogs so that they may be able to compete in the performance venue. When applying for an ILP, several pictures must be taken of the dog so that they can verify breed. I don't think anyone is going to mistake an "Altman English Bulldog" as a Bulldog

ILP

but I bet the AKC would ILP them an bulldog for performance events...

Interesting to a small degree but not my personal choice.

that`s interesting.........

I have never heard them called that. I`ve only heard the name Olde English Bulldog, or Valley Bulldog, but they don`t look Valley, they look Olde English.

They look like a varient of Olde English Bulldogs. It seems that they are sometimes called Altman's White English Bulldogs.

to me they look like Olde English

Look beautiful to me!

.

Just Wanted to Clarify

I didn't find ANY bitter people on THIS forum. You guys are GREAT! I have been reading and its nice to see a bunch of people who just love dogs!

Big dogs...

Very pretty.

Re: Tell us more...

The breed is the Altman's White English Bulldog and as far as I can find out it is a cross between White Bulldogs (old breed) and American Bulldogs. I am in the middle of moving so it may be some time before I can post a picture, but she had a big block head (in more ways than one) she is white\brindle, just a bit taller than a regular english bully, and her face is not as flat. Still the same type of body, but WAY more athletic that my other bullys. She can even swim without sinking! No breathing problems other than snoring. The breed was started a little more than 25 years ago(?) and is listed with the Continental Kennel Club.

Tell us more...

What breeds have been mixed/crossed to come up with the Altman? Are they larger/taller than the english? I've heard they are mostly white, is this true? I know nothing about this...

Many things in this world may be subjective, but the beauty of a bulldog is an absolute.

Can you post a pic?

Would love to see what an Altman's English Bulldog looks like.

No offense - but what the heck is an "Altman's English Bulldog'?

I've never heard of this terminology
