ADVICE again PLEASE!!!! Potty help needed!!!!

Hi again! It is raining sooooooooo hard here and it's freezing cold and Bubba refuses to go out and go potty. This morning it wasvery cold and he not raining yet, but he didn't want to go out, I go home at lunch time so if he wont go in the morning I take him at lunch...Today I had lure him out with treats and he only peed. I went home at lunch and put down a potty pad and put horse urine on it and told him to go potty....he looked at me like i was insane....Any advice on this would be soooooooooooooooooo great.... how can I get him to go on the pads?
He refuses! I know if he has to bad enough he will, sometimes he just goes out the door in the plants, then turns around and goes right back inside...

Re: ADVICE again PLEASE!!!! Potty help needed!!!!

Can't offer much advice except to say keep at it. I take mine out every 30 minutes when I'm home. It's disarming how much your bubba looks like my tuffy!

take the bull by the horns

he is just being spoiled, Rocky does this sopmetimes, so I just point him in the right direction and tell ge poop, it takes thre or four times but he goes, He is not going because you dont make him go, it can be maddening

Amber ... Bubba's got your number :0)

Does he have a rain coat and hat? Maybe he needs to be properly attired before going out, hehehe!

Cleo always pees on the sidewalk or porch if it's raining. She hates getting her feet wet. Norbert was the same way. He would put his front feet in the wet grass and pee on the sidewalk. I guess he though 2 feet was good enough.

They are funny dogs and your boy has you right where he wants you happy.gif

NO!!! Actually

I have neighbors that I walk with, and sometimes I ask them to come over and take him outside when I vacuum becuz he HATES the vacuum and he stays right at the door! He wont go with anyone but me! He wont even go with my ex, his dad!!! He loves going to his house, but he wont get into the car with him, he never ever wants to leave me....I think its the cold weather or laziness......Stubborn and cold? I hope I dopnt go home and find a nice suprise on the carpet rather than the pad!

[linked image]

Well that's the thing!

He will go walking if I call my neighbor and ask her to go with us. Or if he sees someone else walking by, he will go. Not in the rain though!

Could you take him out with another neighbor dog?

most dogs like to mark over where other dogs go. We have pee-off's here.

Belle pees. Bentley pees on her pee. Junior pees on that and then Bentley has to pee on the same spot again.

Teddy goes out and sniffs the pee and makes a face and tiptoes away looking for a clean pee free spot.

Lol

Maybe I should send him to you for some lesson learning!!! Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I never thought of pushing him rather than pulling, I will try that for sure!!!

Teddy does that.

Get behind him and push, rather than pulling. Teddy will only walk if he can lead the way. He's so funny.

Try pushing and not saying anything.

Maybe pack his bags and send him to Grandma. Or me! I love Bubba!

I have horses and all my 6 dogs stay away from the area when the

you could try to get one of those indoor grass (faux) potty boxes. They are advertised in some dog catalogs , but tend to be spendy. My Ollie didn't want to go outside today either. Everything is coated with heavy ice and he's a prissy about getting his paws wet or dirty! All the troops had a hard time staying upright enough to do their business LMAO!

Here's the problem-

He Won't go!!!! he just sits or stands there and I have to pull him...I Dont like pulling on him, and he is just sooo stuborn!!!!I have picked him up in the past to move him.....

Okay. Try this..

Say nothing, NOT A WORD, while you put his collar on him and take him outside. Don't talk to him. I know this will be difficult, but ignore him. Act uninterested and bored. When you get downstairs tell him, "Go potty" and turn away and ignore him. Then after he goes pee, tell him to "Go poop" (if that's what you call it) and wait again.

I think since he gets lots of praise and attention normally, I would not praise him if he goes. I'd just pick it up and take him back inside.

I was going to suggest the potty pads....

but never would I dream of putting horse urine on them! I haven't heard of that. My dogs stay way the heck away from the areas my horses pee in....not sure why it would work on a pad??
