5 pics of Cody (graphic)

Cody's eyes

What's left of his poor little nose...

His left ear...he must have had ear mites for the past 5 years...

Swollen feet and sores...

Cody at our first rest stop...from a distance you can see the beautiful dog he once was...and hopefully can still be....he has such proud shoulders!!

Health Certificate on Cody

The person who got Cody's health certificate in Iowa and the people who own him can file a complaint with the Iowa veterinary licensing board on the vet who issued the health certificate. The certificate is only to certify he has no contagious diseases, not that he's healthy, but yeast and bacteria ARE contagious and Cody's eye problem requires continuous treatment, which the vet evidently did not tell anyone was necessary. The contact info is:

Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine
Wallace Building, Second Floor
Des Moines, IA 50319
(515) 281-5305

They should contact the State Police and ask them to meet

them at the emergency vet's office.

The owner...

was not there. He left Cody at his sister's house. We never even got to see him. He knew....

OMG How very very sad

I am sitting here crying now after looking at the pics of this poor bully. I do not understand how anyone can let this happen to such a once beautiful dog. There should be some type of charges that can be brought against this man.

my heart..............(qestions)

i think i just swallowed it. i can't believe those people. was anything said to them at p/u? what causes his nose to get like that?

Pet shop Bullie

I am going to try to talk with her next week. Her dog's health is great. The other pup was for her parents and she has problems with allergies so far, but nothing else. I will ask her to look at her AKC registration to see who the sire was and where her pup came from.

Sue-Bear's picture

Not familiar with it

That is on the far south end of Arlington Heights and I am at Dundee Rd which is the northern part of Arlington Hgts. I never go that direction.

It may be worth a call to the pet store and try to get info on this so called Iowa breeder. Did the girl get AKC papers and/or pedigree for the bullies? If yes, maybe she can give you some info if it is listed on the resigtration. How is the health of her dogs?

poor cody

i am glad you got him out of there. i would be most worried about the tumor in the neck.
a vet trip, some meds, some good lovin, and yummy food will help him get better.
i hope something can be done about his "breeder".

please send my kisses to cody.

To Sue and Sumo - Pet Store

I know you live in Wheeling close to me. Do you know that pet store on Arlington Heights and Golf called Puppies are Happiness or something like that? They sell bulldogs from a breeder in Iowa. A girl I work with bought two Bulldogs from them over a year ago. Maybe if they use this guy, we can get to him through this shop or at least expose who they get their dogs from. I know the girl that bought these puppies had and has no idea the conditions these dogs are bred in. Lots of education and exposure would help as well.

That poor guy! n/m

nm

I would take him to emergency vet they can write down

all what is wrong ---why----how long---have that on record too..and get Cody some help now:(

Poor Cody

It just sickens me to see the shape this poor guy is in.I will never understand how people can treat an animal like this.Bullies are meant to be loved not so very neglected and used as money making machines. They obviously have no heart or they wouldn't treat beautiful bullies this way!It gives me solace to see how everyone came together to help this guy and hats off to those of you who do this and see this all the time.My heart is breaking! Re: 5 pics of Cody (graphic)

This guy is just a real peach (sarcasm)...for the price he charged, you would think he would at least have the courtesy to clean him up before he went to his new owners (although I am not surprised he didn't). He is not only abusive, but pretty stupid too apparently. I do have to say that Cody is very handsome, I guess for now he is "ruggedly handsome". Hopefully it is all things that a little TLC and time will heal. Hurray for Cody to have a new loving home.

Poor, poor, Cody

Awww, gosh, I don't even know what to say, except that I am so glad that Cody is out of that hellhole he has lived in for the last 5 years. Now let's see what can be done so that he doesn't take that $1000 and get more Codys to do the same thing to.

Barbara

Poor baby! You're safe now.

I am so glad that Cody is going to a new home to be cared for and be safe. I now worry about the two male bullies who are going to replace him.

I worry also, that if we, Cody's rescuers, report the former owner that they will no longer sell the dogs they're no longer breeding, but simply kill them. What can we do? Is there anyone savvy regarding rescue, puppy mills and the like?

We agree ....

Wish we knew where he was right now....

Poor Ce and Kristae will have an hour's reading to do here when they get home tonight!

I agree.....n/m

n/m

as hard as it might be...

i would not clean up/treat him before the vet can write the report.
I would be important for the vet to see the condition the dog was in when purchased.
Including the filth and the pus and the gunk. I know it would be difficult not to try to get him cleaned up right away, but a vet report would be more important even then the pics..
Lu

We have more pics...

and Ce took a ton of them herself. We'll gather all the documentation we possibly can.

I wonder if an emergency vet visit would be in order so Cody wouldn't have to wait until Monday...

Guess we'll wait to hear from Ce and Kristae.

I will never get the picture of his sweet face out of my mind...

I am ill

This is total disregard for an animal. I swear I could kill the SOBs that did this to him. Make him suffer a worse fate than poor Cody.

My suggestion right now, being the weekend would be take as many pics as you can. Get to the vet ASAP Mopnday morning because this poor guy needs help quickly. May have some kind of eye infection and we know the ears have mites and/or infection. I'm afraid to ask what the tail area is like

He probably hasn't been cleaned in ages and I bet he will feel alot better if he was cleaned up a bit and started on the road to recovery. Flush the eyes, put in liquid tears. Bathe him if you can. Clean and soak the feet and trim nails if they need it and he will allow you. Flush the ears with a good ear wash to clean what crap you can out. Put in some Otomax if you have any.

Please keep us posted.

How could anyone neglect a dog like this?

No question, simple neglect. I would send these pics to any and all authorities in the state where this !@#$%^&&*()_+ lives so they can see what he is doing. The nose, ears, eyes and feet are the things you take care on a day to day basis, so bad.

Bless all those who have banded together to get Cody the help he needs - unbelieveable.....

"The more I know people, the more I love my bulldogs."

How sad!

He does look blind in that frontal picture or like he's really trying to see. I wonder what the tumour is? Does anyone have an idea? Poor thing. You all have really done a great thing getting him out of there. We should really start donating for vet bills next. I wonder if he has corneal damage? Do they have heartworms where you all live? I wonder if he has been on preventative. I can think of so many things.

Re: 5 pics of Cody (graphic)

Oh my gosh - I am crying right now. That is just such a sad sight. What kind of person could mistreat an animal like that?????? It really ticks me off! Well the good news is that he is out of that monster's hands and will now have the best life possible! He's going from one extreme to the next and he deserves it!!!

Hugs and kisses to Cody and thanks for keeping us posted.

Angela

He is an angel...

Totally gentle and sweet....

Excellent photographs ....

that can help ease the anguish of those left behind.

What horrible pic

Not the photography but the subject it self. I am so glad we did what we did. It's going to be a up hill battle to get back to his former self. But with love and care anything is possible. I know it was hard on you to see him in that shape and you will have a few bad nights over it but many thanks for the compassion you have showed him.

Oh, hang on Cody.... you have a good home now!

We love you all!!!!!

How is his temperment?

Is he gentle?

OMG that poor sweet cody

this guy should be put in jail

How sad

Thanks for the pictures....It looks like he has dry eye and it might be too late to really save much sight in that eye.

The nose is just totally uncared for. Put lots of vaseline on it, and gently rub the crud off. You'll think he's losing half his nose, but it is just the crud. It will take a week or more of doing this and it should start to look normal.

Those poor ears, that will take some time. But with flushing, cleaning and medication they should come around. But again, he might have permanent hearing loss because of the neglect.

We have to band together and do something to stop people like this man.

WOW

He looks pretty rough. You can tell he is a very pretty dog still though.

What is that on his eye and what happened to his nose?

take those pics and yourself to the police!

This is sick!
Emily

Thank you so much for the pics.

He sure looks handsome even with all of his discomforts. I believe he will recover with all of the love he is going to get.
