Would welcome some puppy weight opinions

Since we have had Kippah we have anticipated a 1 lb weight gain per week--per the breeder, and our vet.  And she has pretty much been right there with two exceptions.  At weeks 10 through 13 she gained 5.6 pounds, almost two pounds a week, And then now, Weeks 16-19, she gain 5.4 pounds.

She is approaching her 20th week and she weighs 25 pounds.  Her Dam weighs 54 pounds, and the Sire weighs 59--but has been as high as 75--they have to watch him carefully.

Should I just keep an eye on her next 3 weeks and see how we are doing?  We just started letting her have some kibble out all the time--becaus she likes to be like the big dogs (Bostons who are just about half her weight lol)  and my feeling is that she has to go back to being served dinner....and not having free roam.  We have only done that for 2 weeks now.

She is on a grain free, Lamb and brown rice, (she did not do well on salmon when we tried it at 15 weeks) And the treat she gets are chicken jerky, or homemade pumpkin treats (grain free)....She has been doing alot of training, and does get alot of treats, although we are at the point of getting away from the majority of treats in our training.

Any suggestions, concerns, opinions are welcome.

Sisy's breeder (he's also a Vet) recommended...

to feed her as much as she wanted with the best food I could afford until 1 year old. I fed Sisy Royal Canin Medium Size Puppy 32 for 4 months and then switched to Orijen Puppy until she was 1 year old. She's now 13 moths and eats Orijen 6-Fish, her weight is close to 55 pounds. She gets long walks almost every day.

No opinion

I can't give a real opinion since Jack is my first bulldog. But he just got weighed on Saturday at the vet's and is 25 lbs 9 oz and just turned 17 wks today. His brother weighs almost 28 lbs. He started out gaining a pound a week and then he gained about 2 lbs a week for a few wks and now its a little less than that a week. I look at him and he has the tapering of the waist and I can feel his ribs.  Some might argue that he is gaining weight too fast and it looks like that on paper. But I go by looks and he looks fine.

Only 1 'fix' for Jack and Kippah --

They need to be IMMEDIATELY Sent to Delaware, for lots of Belly rubs....  ya see, if their belly is being rubbed, they can't get up to eat :)

LOL   they are both perfectly fine :) :) (in my honest, non-expert opinion)

Kippah doesnt like it

She actually does not like belly rubs, what's up with that?  She still gets them, and I guess its not that she does not like them, she does not like to lay on her back.  And she used to, but I think I 'broke' her by accident.  When we were working so hard on potty training I would say GOOOD GIRLLLLL! too soon and she would flip on her back, right in the puddle of pee........she quickly found out that was not what I wanted her to do!

But she does like to stand still so I can rub her belly every night before bedtime, but then again it is probably just a tactic to postpone bedtime, typical toddler!

Butt rubs are preferred

LOL  Jack would rather you rub his butt. He'll lean on you until he falls over.

Chicken Jerky

I just read an article that Chicken Jerky has been the cause of death in a few dogs.  From testing they can't pinpoint the chemical that is the concern.  Make sure yours is not from China.  Just saying :(

Don;t concern yourself so much with the actual pounds, if they look fat then time to cut back.  I don't feed any dogs free food, mine would be obese.

I would keep an eye on her

with my loulou she will eat everything. she will even try to take the others food away. some of these dogs just don't know when to stop. my Loulou is now over weight  and is on a diet. Poor thing I'm starving her. Not really but she thinks so. I would get her weight under control. Only because I was just like you and now we are doing the diet thing. my vet said it was because she was on a puppy food for over a year. she was a year and a half before I got her.

I don't worry about weight

As long as they look good, the number doesn't matter. My puppy was 5 months old today and she weighs 30.5 lbs. which is a little chunky for her. My Vet thinks she looks great but she could stand to lose a couple of pounds.

I don't give my dogs any jerky, greenies, rawhide, pig ears, edible Nylabones, etc. because they can be choking hazards.
