Worrisome Article About the FDA Rpt on Diamond

Your dogs could have been eating euthanized animals,  Yuck :(

http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/the-plot-thickens-clues-to-big-issues.html

“Animal Digest – material which results from chemical and/or enzymatic hydrolysis of clean and un-decomposed animal tissue. The animal tissues used shall be exclusive of hair, horns, teeth, hooves and feathers, except in such trace amounts as might occur unavoidably in good factory practice and shall be suitable for animal feed.”

Yuck!

Another expert has described Animal Digest as “a cooked-down broth which can be made from unspecified parts of unspecified animals.” The animals can be collected from almost any source. There is no control set in place over quality or contamination. Any kind of animal can be included: “4-D animals” (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying before slaughter), goats, pigs, sheep, horses, rats, euthanized at animal shelters, restaurant and supermarket waste, road kill, etc.
That is about as gross as it gets.

When I fed kibble this is the reason I fed "Now".

It's no surprise that dogs love the freshness of NOW. It's so fresh, it's like eating off the kitchen counter (down, girl). We pack NOW full of nutritious ingredients like 100% market-fresh turkey, salmon and duck. 100% fresh Omega 3 and 6 oils from coconuts and canola. Wholesome berries, fruits and veggies such as peas, spinach, cranberries, pumpkin, blackberries, alfalfa sprouts, kelp, lentils and carrots. Yum! Zero grains, zero rendered meals, zero by-product meals, or artificial preservatives.

So glad I feed my dogs raw.

I dont mean to bust anyone's bubble... but. . .

Has anyone read the FDA regulations on what is ALLOWABLE in Human Food?  I was floored when I sat in a bar and talked to an FDA inspector - I'm talking there is an 'acceptable' percentage of rodent parts -  not that a company is putting that in on purpose, but during the processing sometimes things get in, that you wouldnt expect' or want to know about.

Yea I try not to think of such things as I munch on a Chili Dog - it tastes good, and I havent grown a tail and whiskers yet :P

Well I hope I'm not eating ground up humans

and that the FDA doesn't allow my food to include my own ground up species.  And I do like a Bratwurst every now and then ...  but I still don't want to eat my own kind.  So I wouldn't want my dogs to be eating their own kind either and I hope that my deceased dog was truly cremated and those are his real ashes in his urn and he didn't end up in dog food.

I prefer to avoid companies that seem to think it's fine to do such and prefer to control as much as I can control by not buying from them.

If people don't care then they won't clean up their act.  There are other companies that do care.  Can you ever be certain NO!  But if they never end up having to do numerous recalls and reportedly killing thousands of dogs then I will go buy where the company has a clean rpt.

To simply turn a blind eye because the FDA says it's ok for small microscopic organizimes to be in our food is on thing but knowingly putting dead decaying animals into the ingredients and then lying about it is another.

Just Sayin :)

No soylant green unless you're in Korea and China

Seriously. Taken in capsles as health food. It's too gruesome to even talk about, but you can look it up on google.

Sorry I wasnt meaning to turn a blind eye . . .

I was meaning that the FDA rules and regulations at times are a real farce - to me, 0.00% rodent parts in my hotdog please.... however - unless you  plant it, grown it, pull it, cook it, ya can never be 100% sure :/   I sure wish I lived out in the middle of no where, on my own farm, but then if I did, I wouldnt have a computer or BDW :) :) :) :)

Just Sayin ;)  LOL

Deb thanks for the info. Rick I'm

Glad you don't live on a farm. BDW just would not be the same without our Gizmo.

Farm Life

I grew up on a farm...so a few bugs and mice don't bother me too much!  Don't get me wrong I'm not into eating them.  But as a kid I ate my share of dirt and sometimes not by mistake, I guess mud pies were edible according to me around age 3.  Getting dumped off of horses in the horse pasture I'm sure lead to stuff going in my mouth that would certainly gross one out.  My sister once got dumped face first right into a pile of poop.  I think that was the last time she rode a horse, LOL.

Truthfully, I think the production and processing

of food, for both pets and humans is pretty disgusting. But then again, I could in no way raise my own farm animals to eat.
