Will she out grow it?? Help!

Olive is 7 months old now.  Lately she is barking at night and trying to start squabbles with PollyAnna who just ducks her head and walks away.  She will CHEW anything and every thing if we let her.  She is driving us nuts!  Well....I guess its welcome to Bulldog adolescence.  The chewing however...at the loss of the little needle baby teeth...the chewing has only gotten worse.. will this too soon pass??  We don't remember PollyAnna ever being this difficult...sigh...  we love her brat or not..

Beatrix is a HUGE chewer.

Beatrix is a HUGE chewer. When she was around Olive's age, I lost my two favorite pairs of sandals to her teeth, and she just chewed everything in sight. She's still a huge chewer, but around a year or so old, she stopped chewing EVERYTHING, and now only chews her toys. We do have to get things like elk antlers for her, though, because she goes through anything else so fast -- they're the only thing that's really worth the money for us. It's almost like chewing is meditative for her -- she lays there with her toy of choice between her front paws, eyes half shut, and just noms....

Just like human kids, huh?

Youc an never predict what "quirks" will emerge! And I think that 80% of their disposition is set from birth... If it helps, James was a prolific chewer, but seemed to mellow a bit after he hit 1 year old.  He still has a shoe fetish but now that he destroyed the cabinets and windows in our house his need to chew has dimminished.  We also got him a chew bone that seems to satisfy him a bit.  Good luck,

Yes just like kids. I once chewed my mom's floppy disk that had

her homework on it when she was in college.  Can you imagine having to tell the professor "I'm sorry but my daughter ate my homework"  lol

Bubba would chew on anything.

Loulou chewing was over when I got her. But Bubba  man like coming home after a days work and find your leather couch taken out. He kill that! Chairs tables. Never crated  intill we got him. After about year and half he quit. Funny I would look around the room and ask myself what is going to be destroy today.

Funny you bring this up

I just read that puppies will chew when they are teething and then again when they are about 7 months.  I think it said it could last up to a year old.  Our boys are 7 months and they chew on their toys, tv tray legs, laundry basket (plastic), my dresser, my husbands socks if left on the ground, and outside furniture.  The husbands socks it okay with me, since I always ask him to pick them up.  Now I just have helpers to remind him. :)  We have our shoes up because they would chew on those if given the chance.

Yes, the chewing she will grow out of but the bossiness...

You need to curb it, she is testing you and Pollyanna. You need to decide what is acceptable and what is not. Then figure out how you want to draw the line so she will understand the behavior is unacceptable.

Like a little human kid, she is trying to see what she can get away with and what she can't.

Hope this helps.

Farley was a huge chewer

But when he was busted chewing on something he should not have, I took it told him no and gave him something appropriate to chew on, and eventually he got the hint.  I think he was close to a year before he just quit all together and only chewed on his toys.
