For the last couple months I have been concerned that Kippahs skeletal structure was not growing properly. She is at 8 months and 35 lb, which is right where she should be according to our vet. But I noticed at 6 months she really shot up in height....but only in the back legs. The front caught up a little, but the stopped. I have been really concerned about this.
WHY didnt I go back and re-read the standards for the breed? she is right where she is suppose to be. Her back legs are suppose to be muscular and longer than the forlegs, elevating her loins above her shoulders, Spot on.... I have never noticed it on other Bullies, but then again I am contantly watching her, looking at her, hugging her, kissing her..........bugging the crap out of her.
Maybe it just stands out more on her because she is just now starting to bulk up around the neck, maybe as she widens out there it will be less predominate that her butt is higher than her shoulders.
OK, once again Mamma can breath and quit being a worry wart.

Leg Length
Actually the leg length should not be longer in the back legs then the front. The loin is to be slightly higher then the shoulder, and that is because the loin should be slightly roached, which makes it higher then the shoulder. If the back legs are longer then the front then you lack the proper balance. The dog will also be less likely to have nice movement and roll with back legs too long. Puppies can go through some odd growing stages so she may catch up, but a pretty common fault is rearend is too high, back legs too long and straight stifles. Kohl is way to high in the butt....his major fault and it really effects his overall balance. Such that he won't be shown anymore :( I wish I could cut off his back end and replace it with the white boys rearend.
They grow at an odd rate
Ozzy went through a phase where his head was small but his body was growing, his head got bigger than his body. He looked really odd at times but we were assured that he was fine. Are you still feeding him puppy food, we were told to switch to his adult food at 6 months
puppy food
I took her off puppy food at 4 months. She has grown at a consistant rate since I took her off, (pound wise)

Leg length vs profile
Typical for me, I did not use the proper wordage. Her legs are the same length, but looking at her you can clearly see that the top of her slopes up. Her tail end sets about 1 1/2 inches higher than her back just south of her shoulders. I should take a picture, and actually measure to give you a better explaination. I would love to hear your professional opinion

High Tail Sets
that come off the top of the back is another very common fault that you see in the show ring. The tail should actually be set low.
*raises hand* if ya have any 'show rejects' :p
They are welcomed at our home :) I'm always in tune with 'Mis-fits' :) (not that Kohl is or anything LOL)
I dont think I could ever be a breeder, Dottie is too much of a perfectionist - I just want wrinkley butts in bed with me :) Long in the leg, short in the butt, rosey petal floppy ears it dont matter :) LOL I'll take um all :)

None are Perfect....Even the #1 Bulldog
in the country has faults. There are no Mis-fits and I don't even consider that. There are good quality and bad quality and everything in between, doesn't mean we love them anyless.
Kohl has some lovely qualities and is what I would consider a gorgeous, standard quality pet.
Since I'vre grown up showing dogs, horses and breeding horses I just have quality and breeding a better example of the breed with both. It was just instilled in me..LOL! Sorry can't help it.
I love MacKenzie, with his funny crooked legs just as much as I love Ester and Kohl. And Norbert was not a show dog either but he will always have a huge spot in my heart. Their personalities and temperment to me are most important. But I have always appreciated a beautiful breed specimen be it horses or dogs.
Oh Deb :) I know none are misfits :)
I'm the misfit, and I was just saying any of them would be welcome here. :) cause I know I'm not even perfectly imperfect :P LOL
.
I agree with the temperment :) I wouldnt know how to apreciate a beautiful breed specimen, because I am uneducated in show dogs, we did see alot of neat ones at Nationals (Never been to a show before, so we were sorta just looking around because it wasnt very far from home), but I surely couldnt tell WHAT was good, or desirable. I could only tell - 'This one is Cute ! and so is that one! and the one over there...well she's REALLY cute' :)

Ha! You worry about your bulldog?
When Maybull was about the age of Kippah, we found a lump on her and wisked her to the vet. She's gotten a mosquito, bite apparently. Our vet sees a lot of bulldog people and just kinda smiled and shook his head.
Just to be sure
I'm really concerned about your Kippah. Just to be sure that she is growing properly, I think she needs to live with us for a little bit so that I can monitor her closely......not that I'm an expert or anything. But I do have plenty of greek yogurt! She is too cute and we need some more pics!
