What do you feed you puppy?

Right now Chef D is on Wellness (has been for over a month).  His stools seem to be on the loose side. I'm thinking of changing brands and just wondered what others use.

We've tried just about EVERYTHING. And lucky I received

great advise from Judy about feeding raw.  However we didn't want to switch over completely so she recommended Honest Kitchen.  I'm so glad we finally found "our food".  Fatboy has never been interested in food, which I thought was weird.   He would only eat when he absolutely had to, so getting him on a feeding schedule was hard.  But once we started feeding him HK he absolutely LOVES feeding times.

He now runs, jumps, spins around and gives us kissies when we are about to feed him.  HK is dehydrated raw food so all we have to do is add warm water.  We've seen a vast improvement in his skin, coat, and stools.  On a side note, stool "quality" is very important.  We learned this the hard way when his stool wasn't firm enough on one brand of kibble we used to feed him (he ended up with a impacted anal gland that required surgery).

Dry kibble isn't ideal for Fatboy.  The different brands we've tried either gave him dry and brittle fur, created vast amounts of yeast build up, caused loose stools or just flat out didn't appeal to him.  We could never find that perfect balance with kibble.  But I honestly think raw is definitely the way to go, especially for bullie breeds.  All bulldogs are different (just like their humans) so not all will experience the same reactions.   But whatever you try I hope you find your perfect balance :)

Our breeder recommended...

Eukanuba Pure Puppy Growth which has been great for Rugby but the only issue is that I have only been able to find it on two websites and it is not available in any stores (from what I know). We order it online and there haven't been any delays (thank goodness) and we also informed the vet of this product and he said it was one of the best (and he is a bully focused vet). We plan on keeping him on it until he is 10-12 months.

Bulldog puppies don't need puppy food...

too many calories and too much protein for them.  We put ours on adult food right away.  Any grain free kibble is good, we use the Costco brand salmon sweet potato for 2 and Taste of the Wild Lamb for the other, both are 25% protein and grain free.  If his stool is a little loose, you can add a little plain canned pumpkin every time you feed him, it should help firm up the stools.

Kippah off puppy

Kippah has been off puppy food since she was 12 weeks old.  we put her on grain free, and 24% protien, she grows at an even steady pace

we just switched to grain free

Gracie was on Nutro dog food since she was born.  Now she is just over a year and she was getting yeasty, itchy, dry skin, lots of stools.  So we decided to switch to grain free and see how she does.  She is on Natures Variety Instict dog food.  Im curious to see if it makes a difference.  I hope it does!
