So Im going away this weekend and I just dropped Molly off with my parents, who are taking her for 2 days and then she's going to stay with her walker for 1 night. So the weird or normal subject refers to the fact that I cried as they drove away! I have never left her for overnight stays before, aside from when she was sick and had to stay in the hospital. I gave them written directions about her feeding and walks, and phone numbers for the vet just in case. She seriously is like my baby! I hope it gets easier to leave her because this is just ridiculous! I figured if anyone would understand, it would be this group!
Have a great memorial day weekend!
Normal for a bulldog owner
Now we're not exactly normal... but hey! :)
I agree
Bulldog owners are obsessed. We're a little bit crazy when it comes to our dogs. So, I'd say 'normal.'
Easier? I won't even leave Sophia any more unless I am forced to
It never gets easier!!! I hate leaving any of my animals anywhere for any reason. Makes me worry the whole trip, and why go if I can't relax and enjoy it!
Amy and Sophia
normal...(hugs))) it's only 2
normal...(hugs))) it's only 2 days
So normal
I leave notes for my parents if we won't be home to feed the boys, that is even with the food already measured out. We thankfully haven't had to leave the boys overnight yet, but I cried when we had to leave Kilmore and Winnie overnight a couple times. Heck I hate leaving the boys in the morning to go to work (I don't cry), even though I will be seeing them at lunch time. Hope you try to enjoy your trip. I say it's even okay to call and check in to see how Molly is doing.
Sarah
Aw, she IS your baby! >
I can totally sympathize with you. We had to leave our Bella with my sister-in-law for a few MONTHS due to our housing situation (long story). We had a really hard time leaving her. We were happy though knowing she was being loved, and well cared for, and of course they spoiled her. We have had her back for 3 months now and it is as if she was never gone.
This is my Bella. Just took this with my cheap cell phone.

I agree Normal.
Only with me. I just Quit going places. If Loulou and Bubba can't come I just don't go. Holidays well use to spend them with family. Now that my Mom and Dad are gone. Well no need for me to worried. I was ask by non dog people not to bring her. O .k. I decide no Loulou then I will stay with the thing I love the best. My baby Girl. So that's how I handle that. I just can't leave them.

hmmmm.......
...........maybe i'll skip my mother in law now cuz I refuse to leave Tucker!
Katie & Tucker a.k.a "Porkchop"
normal for sure!
It's not at all wierd. The first Christmas after we got Tucker we had to board him as we were going to my in-laws up North for Christmas. They are not fond of dogs and my brother in law pretends to be deathly allergic(when we go they expect us to change clothes so no hair gets in the house!). Every time we go up we have to either drive Tucker to my Moms an hour away or board him. Well that first time I bawled my eyes out even as we were driving up. I felt so bad, like I was a bad owner. When my husband had to go in for cancer treatment I had to send Tucker away for a week and I was a mess.
It feels like leaving a child behind and in my opinion it should. Each time we've had to leave him or board him it has gotten easier but it still sucks!

oh YES!! We TOTALLY understand!! don't ever have to worry
about sharing stuff like that here! We've gotten to where we were sad to leave them all day today to go to the movies, out to dinner, then grocery shopping....If it were three nights, I'm sure I might cry a bit, too!! (( hugs ))
Our sweet Archimedes "MEATY" Bones (or as we say...boneSHHH!) ---born 11/28/08---- our first bullllyyyy!!!

Thanks for making me feel better everyone!
Molly had a fantastic weekend and loved being with my parents! They didn't even send her to the daycare. They kept her all 3 nights so that made me feel better. When I picked her up, she was excited but actually seemed to want to stay with them (they definitely spoiled her with lots of treats all weekend)! I'm happy to be home with her and did enjoy my trip once I heard she was doing fine! Thanks again!
