Hello all!,
So.. here is me and dozer's usual morning on the days i have to go to work. ( wed-sat)....we get up in the morning, He goes out right away, He comes back in and i set him up with his morning breakfast, while i shower and get ready, I leave the Back door open just enough for him to get in and out, which weve been doing since we have had him. then i usually let him out one more time before he goes in his crate...
the wierd behavior comes in before that last bathroom trip.. Hell go outside.. Go to the bathroom. then HIDE in the bushes outside of the door!, ill call him from the back door with a treat.. Ive shaken his jolly ball also, nothing!!!.. he just SITS in the back of the bush pressed up against the fence, and hell stay there until i go up there, and pull him out, hes stubborn as anything!!. It started about 2 weeks ago, I thought it was just a funny thing he started doing.. Not so much anymore cause he does it EVERY single morning, right before im ready to walk out the door..
Any ideas?!
Thanks a bunch. Nick and D~

Is Dozer . .
Looking through the fence at something/someone ? (Gizmo goes NUTS and I swear she is in love with our next door neighbor, to the point she'd run to him before us! LOL)
Is he actually hiding and cringing or cowering ?
Maybe he knows the routine and knows he's going to have to go into that crate, and he just isnt ready yet? maybe switch up the routine a bit? a little ball?

I'm thinking he knows you're leaving
And the longer he "hides" the longer you'll stay home.
Does he appear to be upset in any way? If not, he's probably playing you like a violin. It happens to the best of us :)
Don't leavvvveeee me!!
Titan is the same way. As as I start brushing my teeth in the morning, he will park himself at the door and bolt oustide at any little window. He then crawls under the truck and stays there until i go back in the house... then SLOWLy, will he decide to come up. Needless to say, THANK GOD my boss thinks he's cute and has seen him in action because I have been late, once or twice because of this. lol Best of luck!
Dozer knows best :)
Dozer wants you to stay home :(
hehehe
smaaarter than the average bear, boo boo!

nahh.
hes deff not cowering or anything like that, nor does he have a sad face ... Hes deff just chillen , like his face is always like " hmm i wonder if she sees me?. ..
I just this week started to give him his jolly ball in the morning also. cause hes usually like his momma, and ita takes him time to wake up in the morning.. he plays and eats with no problem.. i swear he knows when i put my jacket on he does like " the peepee" dance like hes gotta go out, then he hides! the little brat!.
Right!. and if i stay inside long enough, and DONT call him or do anything, he also slowelllllllllllly starts to make his way back down the stairs, then when he gets in, hes like awww darn!. .. i mean.. should i not be crating him anymore?. richy thinks that he doesnt like being in there anymore and we should just leave him out?.... If i go food shopping or do small errands ill leave him out... but i havent yet for work.. idk how i feel about it yet.. how many of you guys leave out?. or put your babes in there homes? (crate_)

We don't put Titan in his
We don't put Titan in his crate during the day, only at bed time. KNOCK ON WOOD, he has yet to chew anything, or use the bathroom in the house when he is left alone. Occasionaly, when we pull in, we will see him jump off the couch (he knows too well he's not suppose to be on there lol) but thats about it! His crate is left there, he goes freely in and out, and at bedtime, he goes right in as soon as you say "bedtime", sometimes, he beats us to it and puts himself to sleep.
He just loves to follow us everywhere, he would just love to come hang out with me at the office all day lol
Gizmo curls up in her Crate while we work
I'd like to let her roam the house while we are gone, but I just can't get myself to do it - I do let her out unsupervised when I'm outside doing chores or a quick Grocery run, but not for hours at a time.
I'm just afraid she'd get into something and end up hurt :( Furnature can be replaced...I'm not worried about that, just worried about her :P

Tank...
Does the same thing in the mornings, lately he's even been trying to take off down the block. I think for us, this is mainly because my husband just deployed last week and he's acting out.
For leaving him out during the day... We slowly got Tank used to being out by putting up a playgate and giving him access to a small portion of the house. (We started with the kitchen.) Now he's good to be left out. The only thing we do is make sure the closets are closed, (his extra toys are stored in one, and the hubbys shoes in the other,) and we have to keep the bathrom door closed when we're gone or he'll play with the bathroom trash.
However, if he starts tearing stuff up in the house, he'll go back to his crate for the next day. So far he only acts out when we're extremely late coming home (dual military sometimes plays havoc with our scheduals) or when my husband is gone for more than a couple days.
It's completely up to your comfort zone!
Wouldn't know that he just got a brandnew $60 bed! My forever puppy Tank.
We leave Beatrix out when
We leave Beatrix out when we're gone, but we built up to it gradually. At first, we'd leave her in the bedroom. Then it was the bedroom and living room. Now she has the whole first floor. She mostly just curls up on her couch cushion and sleeps when we're gone, and we've never had any trouble with her, even for long periods of time.
hmmmm
Thanks for all the info guys!..
I think maybe well start to warm up to it and do it slowely.. Im pretty sure he would just sit there on the couch.. but he gets like these weird burts of energy sometimes, that unless i calm him down hell just keep going and going! hahaha...
this morning i was a little smarter and i fed hima little later, so that way by the time he had to go out for his last bathroom break till i got home, he actually went, and came back in, slowely, but he came back in! hahahaah.
