Update on Chester
Submitted by Bernata and Ang... on February 9, 2012 - 12:42amChester's surgery was a very difficult one. It lasted a long time and there are complications. Currently we hope we have what is called "clean margins" so that he can heal, if not, and there were so many things going against him, he has only 50% chance of making it past next seven days or so.
He is currently in ICU as the length of anesthesia caused swelling of his throat and they cannot pull his breathing tube. He will stay there at least all night. If swelling does not go down by morning they may give him a tiny bit of steroids (they really hate doing it as this reduces chances of healing his wound) and eventually would move to open his trachea.
Needless to say, I am just numb.
This is a very difficult time for all of us, Chester could use some good thoughts and prayers right now if you do not mind sparing a few. He does not deserve this, no dog does.
