With TOTW being on the recalled list..what is everyone feeding their bullies now??

My 4 have been on totw for a year or so and have done fairly well on it but I am about out of food and totw is no where to be found here in NC because of the recall. I am needing to find something to switch them to. Before totw they were on blue buffalo wilderness salmon and had skin issues and one of my girls kept on getting UTI's. I have also tried natural balance before and they didn't do to well with it either so I am confused what to even try now! Would like to find something around the same price (had looked at nature's variety but it is close to $70 for just 25lbs and I can't really do that with 4 bullies, a briard and labradoodle eating the food)

We are still feeding TOTW since Arizona is not part of the recal

but if you have a Costco near you, they have two varieties of grain free and they are both good.

No Costco near here :(

in Canada???

Does anyone know if the costco here in Canada sells the grain free salmon dog food?? I've looked for it at one costco here but it's a store that for some reason doesn't seem to carry some of the stuff others do.

Natures Domain at Costco is part of the recall!

It's made by Diamond foods.  We went back to Nutro Max Lamb and Rice.  Not the "ideal" food for my kids...but one of the few my Boxer can tolerate and does not make Farley an allergic mess.  I am thinking of going raw once we get settled back in Texas this summer.

I spent all morning trying to figure this out!

I could not find a grain free food with a lower end level of protein.  I decided to go with Go! salmon even though it has oatmeal in it. They seem to be a safe independent brand too. My back up was Canidae but that was also recalled and then I thought to try Natural Balance and that was added too! I really never realized how many foods are manufactured by Diamond.  They don't advertise it anywhere!

same company

The same company that makes "Go" makes a grain free adult food under the name "Now". It's  a limited ingredient food and we've had Tucker on it for a while with no issues. I think the protein level is just over 20%.

Thanks...

I saw that but I think it has chicken or turkey in it. I try to stay away from those because of allergies.  She seems to be okay so far with the one grain, but I'm going to switch back to grain free when I find something I like...thanks again!

Now is Turkey, Duck and Salmon

I like the fact that they are a family-owned business and they do not out source the processing to a compnay that mass produces many brands (ie Diamond) which allows them to have better quality control.  I also liked that fact that they weren't using meal and rendered meats.  I fed "Now" when I was feeding kibble and really liked it.

We're Petcurean, an independent, Canadian-owned family business that's been around since 1999, producing NOW, GO! and SUMMIT premium quality pet foods for dogs and cats.

NOW FRESH Adult Recipe is made with 100% FRESH turkey, salmon, duck and 100% fresh Omega 3 & 6 oils from coconuts and canola. It could only be fresher if you made it from scratch. This recipe also features:

  • Zero grains, gluten, wheat, beef, corn, or soy
  • Zero rendered meals, by-product meals or artificial preservatives
  • Balanced proteins and fats to support an active lifestyle
  • Omega oils for healthy skin and coat
  • Pre and probiotics to aid with digestive health
  • Antioxidants for increased immunity
  • Wholesome berries, fruits and herbs such as broccoli, peas, blueberries, pumpkin, spinach, kelp, cranberries, alfalfa sprouts, lentils, and more

FRESH food that is safe for the humans too

I feed it raw, but lightly cooking it is equally healthy.

I too, am at a loss - - and we use Salmon ToTW -

We didnt even know of ToTW until people here were talking about it, and we searched it out and Gizmo seems to be doing well on it - no hair improvement, but she seems to have lessen with the gas -

We've checked our bag, and it isnt part of the recall, however, who is to say that in 2 days they wont include it in their recall ?  We are just at a loss of what to feed. I dont quite understand 'RAW' as isnt a product that is Raw (Chicken) more apt to being open to food born illnesses ? I mean I was a line cook in high school and they always taught 'proper temperature' for foods so that you WOULDNT get sick :/

I just dont know which way to turn :/  maybe back to the Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon? you need to read the Blue Buffalo, as most (if not all) have chicken products in the top 5 or 6 ingredients.

I am also open to suggestions :)

I will continue to use TOTW...

it looks like it's a voluntary precautionary recall and they are doing the right thing to make sure nothing is contaminated.  It's one of the better foods we've used and our guys do so well on it.  Fortunately, Arizona is not on the list of states with the recall.

We are currently trying to switch to Earthborn Holistics

Grain Free  Meadow Feast formula.  Has really good reviews and IS manufactured by them in their facilities.

I considered that too!

It was actually my first choice but I couldn't find it in the stores so I'd have order online, which isn't s problem except sometimes I don't realize that I need to order until it is too late.
