Greetings All! My name is Dan.. I am the son of "Oleh & Stanley". I come on here with some sad news. Last Tuesday, Stanley crossed the rainbow bridge. My dad wanted to come on here and tell people but he couldn't activate his account so he asked me if I could get a new account for him.
Anyway, I just found out the news myself yesterday, when I returned from my week long vacation from Orlando, FL as my father did not want to let me know during my vacation as he didn't want to ruin my time away. My dad let me know that Stanley passed away peacefully at home. The past few months before this, he was having a bit of a hard time walking but always had his moments when he acted like a puppy. Even the day before he passed away, I saw him and he was excited like a puppy! However, I did make the comment to my dad that Stanley felt skinny as I was feeling the bones in his back and he wasn't as solid as he used to be.
My dad said it was old age and then told me that he wasn't eating a few days here and there. Then, on Tuesday while I was away, he didn't really want to move. My dad and my step-mom went to go take him outside and had to carry him down the stairs. He didn't do anything, so they brought him back in and he walked a little and plopped himself on the cold kitchen floor. He closed his eyes to go to sleep and before they knew it, he stopped breathing and he was gone!
They were both very upset about this... my step-mom more than anything, as she grew extremely close to Stanley within the past 2 years while she watched him as my dad was at work. I just wanted to let this community know, as I know Stanley and my dad were a big part of it for years... being in Calendars, getting involved in certain rescue groups, going to Bully Meetups, etc.
My step-mom already said she wants "Another Stanley" but I don't think neither my dad or myself are ready for it yet. We will be dicussing more as the weeks come along. We did love that "little" guy a lot though, and miss him dearly. Thank you all, for all the help you have provided over the years and being there for all of us during our time with Stanley. I am sure he is up in Doggy Heaven with his buddy, Casey (Our old Boston Terrier), chasing her again.. trying to get that frisbee and hiding her toys on her!
I'm very sorry to hear that, what a beautiful baby
Stanley was.
Dave
Thanks!
Stanley just turned 9 this past June too. I felt it was too soon and wanted another 5 years for him, as I always joked with my dad about this... now, I really wish he did make those 5 years!
So sorry - RIP Stanley xoxo
Hey there - my name is Chris. My wife Christina is the one that is usually on here posting, but I just came on and read this news about Stanley.I wanted to share a quick story. Years back, Christina was on here one day & I saw pics of Stanley & the stick. Ever since....whenever I see she her posting on here, I ask her to find pics of Stanley. He looked like such a great bully...I am so sorry for the pain your parents & your family are going through.
May Stanley run free in heaven & play with all the sticks his heart desires. God bless you Stanley.
Thanks, Chris! I actually
Thanks, Chris! I actually have plenty of pictures of Stanley. Probably thousands of them we collected over the years. I won't share them all as we would be here all day lol But I'll share some funny ones later tonight.
And yes, he loved that stick. I think we need to put that stick in the ground next to him in our "pet cemetary" and hope it turns into a tree
Another of the "old guard" gone
I am so sorry to hear about Stanley. His skill at getting the morning paper and love for a good stick are some of my first memories of being part of this big bulldog family.
Please extend my sincerest condolences to Oleh and your stepmom. I lost my Stella this year and I know exactly the heartbreak they are going through. In fact, I have a feeling Stella welcomed her old friend Stanley at the Rainbow Bridge with a cool drink and a nice cheese platter!
RIP, beautiful boy.
Thank you!
And sorry to hear about Stella as well. I remember my dad talking about Stella a few years ago as well. Stanley's morning paper runs will continue up in Doggy Heaven! :)
My deepest condolences to you and Oleh on the loss of Stanley.
I loved that beautiful, sweet baby boy. That picture of he and Casey just broke me up completely, they were my favorite daring duo.

Stanley & Casey
Thanks, Amy! I have a bit of a story about this. Stanley, still sensed Casey in her little pet cemetary even a week ago. She's been gone for a few years now but if me or my dad were to say to him "Where's Casey? Go get her!", he would walk over to her stone and stand over it and start barking. Then he would try to flip the stone over and start to dig, like he was trying to get her from the ground. We wouldn't even point to where the stone was either, he just knew and sensed her. I actually have a video of this... maybe I'll post on here later. But be warned, you guys may lose it and start all crying if you see this!
Aw, now that would be a tear inducing video clip
But to see Stanley again I would watch it and cry.

We are getting his ashes today for the pet cemetary
I'm thinking of doing a "Stanley and Casey" plaque since we have one for all our dogs, but these 2 together would be perfect!
Oh so Sad...Makes me cry
Stanley and his stick, he was one of my favorite guys. My condolences to you, Oleh, and the family. I think Stanley and MacKenzie were very similar in age. Very sad to hear this.
Our hearts are broken here..........
I have the greatest memories of Stanley, from puppyhood to adulthood. I remember the day I was with your Mom & Dad to pick him out, he was such a tiny thing!
He & Zimmer sure had a great time together, right down to hanging at the pool :)
Rest in peace sweet Stanley & run free at the Bridge, you will be missed by many. Give your Mom a kiss from me.

Sorry for your loss
My thoughts are with you and your family. I love the picture of Stanley with the stick in his mouth. We have a similar one of our sweet Kilmore when he was a puppy, so it reminded me of our picture. Stanley and Kilmore can get sticks together at the rainbow bridge.
