this past week.
Kohl was neutered on Thursday and by Saturday evening he had a painful swollen leg and foot, purple toe, 103.7 temp, panting excessively from the pain and by 4 am Sunday morning we headed off to the emergency vet. First time in 16 years with bulldogs I've had to use the emergency vet, but being Sunday I couldn't possibly wait until Monday to get him to my vet. He needed antibiotics and pain meds and thankfully the vet did just that. Put him on Cephalexin and Tramadol and sent him home. As soon as I got home I got the tramadol into him and within an hour he was sleeping, it had been a long night.
Monday morning off to his vet as a followup...of course my vet didn't have a clue what had happened. I have my theory.
By Tuesday Kohl's on his way to recovery. He woke me up and held his paw up as if to say "See all better mom". Still some swelling, limping and toenail is still a little purple but he's going to live and I don't think he'll lose the nail or his foot or toe.
Poor Guy! Doesn't he look pawthetic :(

Our sweet Archimedes "MEATY" Bones (or as we say...boneSHHH!) ---born 11/28/08---- our first bullllyyyy!!!
And SOPHIE Bubbles *Rapscallion* (LOL!) ---born 4/3/11----our second bulllllyyyy!!!!
I think it was from the tape holding the IV
being wrapped to tight. What I've been told is in it had been infiltration his whole leg would have been swollen and it was only his ankle and paw below the IV. I've had 2 very experienced vet techs concur with my theory.
