The first night went okay...I expected it to be a sleepless night for me. JackJack (the dog formerly known as Gibby and who will answer to anything), decided sleeping alone at night is not fun. He enjoyed the crate for his naps though. I spent part of the night lying next to the crate so Jack would get used to sleeping there on his own. I set up the radio for him. I even sprinkled some of his food in there so he could have a "treasure" hunt. Jack enjoyed that and slept in his crate but would wake up about every hour feeling lonely. At 3 am, my husband took Jack to bed with him. Now this is the man who was adamant that this was OUR dog, meaning mine and the girls. He was adamant that he was not going to clean up poop, feed the dog... nothing at all. Steve has already picked up poop, fed the dog, played with the dog, hung out in the recliner with the dog, and now has officially slept with the dog. LOL This picture is Jack lounging in his crate. He was comfortable until he tried to sit up and then we had to help him. :-)

LOL - that's awsome - hubby cave and let him sleep in bed!
What a good mommy sleeping next to his crate! Awww that's so sweet - glad everything is going well - I bet you want another one already ha ha ha
one suggestion I would make,
one suggestion I would make, if you have one laying around I would put him in a smaller crate for a week or so. We just yesterday moved Kippah to a full sized crate, but first she was in the crate she flew here in which was like one I use for our cats. Not alot of room, but with a soft blankey and a stuffed animal to curl up with she was comfortable. She wont sleep anywhere else now. even when she is tired she will just sit there and look pitiful until someone takes her and puts her in her crate.

The crate has a divider in it and we just made the space large enough for his bed. I think he enjoys the crate during the day but because things are so much quieter at night, he gets lonely.

haha he is so cute
no wonder your hubby fell for him so fast. Good luck with the baby.
Sounds familiar
When I got Stella, hubby said, no dog on the furniture and no dog upstairs.
I leave them alone for one day and Stella is lying on "daddy's" chest watching TV. I give him a look and he says "What? She's not on the couch, she's on me!"
A week later, I come home late from work, I can't find the puppy. I go upstairs and hubby is reading in bed. I ask him where Stella is. She is not only upstairs, but she is in bed, UNDER THE COVERS!
Some tough guy! :)
LOL
My husband is still insisting that he isn't going to do anything for this dog. Yet he went out late last night to get Jack a rubber bone. The puppy has plenty of toys but I guess he "needed" just one more.
