Sleeping....

Sometimes Beatrix sleeps, and she doesn't snore, or breathe loud. Which I guess is normal for other dogs? But I'm so used to being able to hear something from her -- a snore, or a little sleepy dream wimper, or SOMETHING, that when she sleeps that quietly.....I confess, I peek at her to make sure she's still breathing. Anybody else do this? Or am I the only paranoid one?

I just started doing that!

I do that all the time lately with my Angus.  Mostly in the middle of the night -- I just wake up all of sudden to check on him!

if gizmo isnt snoring.....

its coming out the other end! LOL

Nah its good ya check on your babies :)  I do the same with Dottie, when I dont hear her snore, I stop and look at her, and look for her to show signs of breathing, then she'll wake up and say 'WHATCHA LOOKING AT????'  and I say, "You, I just wanted to make sure ya werent dead!  Love ya Honey!'

Guilty as charged

I do it all the time.

With Stella being 12, it's an actual concern.  Although, when she does go, I do hope that's how she does it...  nice and peaceful.

Celine, if I'm like this now,

Celine, if I'm like this now, I can't even imagine how I'll be when Beatrix is a sexy senior....

Guilty as well!

One night I actually lept out of bed and went over to check on him.  I woke him up and got some serious tude, but I was worried!

I just want to kiss her sweet little bully belly in that picture!! :)

She has a VERY kissable

She has a VERY kissable belly! In the mornings when we wake up, the first thing she does is roll over onto her back in bed so she can get belly rubs, and I admit I sneak a few belly kisses in there, too.

LOL

I do that with my kids. LOL Jack still sleeps loud so I haven't had to worry yet. But I bet I'll be checking him too.

ALL THE TIME

I used to just stay awake for a second until I heard him breath when he was sleeping in his crate in our bedroom.  Now that he sleeps out in the living room I can usually still hear him through the door but if I cant I will get out of bed and put my ear to the door.

LOL Yes. Guilty.

I find their sleepy noises so soothing that when I hear nothing I worry too :)

I'm so glad I'm not the only

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who does this! I will watch her if she's too quiet and sometimes if she's breathing too fast, I will even wake her up! Now i know it is pretty normal for them to breathe faster during different stages of sleep, but it was def a learning process!

Your Definitely Not Alone

I check all the time to make sure they are still breathing.  Mine rarely snore, except Ester makes this cooing sound (sometimes snores)...so I'm always watching the tummy for breathing.  At night I wake up sometimes and push Ester to make sure she is alive.

I've known enough who have lost dogs during their sleep that it always worries me.
