skateboarding

Does anyone here have a skateboarding dog? Jack tried to ride our daughter's scooter down the hill but its too small for him and he fell off. He's obsessed with the scooter and keeps trying to ride it. So I'm thinking of getting him a skateboard but they seem too skinny.  Jack has also tried riding the trikes down the hill but he needs longer legs. :-)

Walmart Skate Board

We got a Skate Board at Walmart - Gizmo likes to carry it around and chew on it :) she was riding it last fall, I have to get her out on it again.

They need to learn to stand on the board, and I have a string that I tie to the front trucks, as we are in a rather flat area.... and gently pull.  She has rode it down a gentle slope.

Start them Early :) and make sure you have a skate board, that has sometype of grip on the boards surface. :)

A bulldog thing?

Is skateboarding a bulldog thing? I haven't seen any other breed really take to it like the bulldog. I'd love to see Gizmo on her board. I bet its funny! Our backyard has a nice hill that we use for sledding on the rare occasion we get snow. So the kids have been riding their trikes and the scooter down the hill. It isn't too steep and its grassy so I don't worry too much about injuries. I wouldn't have thought about getting Jack a board but he really is obsessed with the scooter. My daughter can't ride it without Jack trying to push her off and getting on himself. LOL

Kippah has her own board

She doesnt use it too much, her legs are just now long enough to be on it and be able to touch the ground with one leg.  But we put her on it and [ush her back and forth on our porch.  I wish the board was wider, but when I look at the videos of BD boarders they just have a standard board nothing special.

The reason you usually only see BDs on boards is because they built low to the ground and boxey (shall I state the obvious?  lol)  so they have a better center of balance on the board.  For this reason I would venture to say you would never see a grey hound on a board...

I have researched alot about the boards and BDs and everything I read states it is important to start them early.  But I would think concrete is better than grass because you want it smooth at first so they don't hit a pile of doggie doo and go flying off the board ending their boarding career

This quote cracked me up!

"so they don't hit a pile of doggie doo and go flying off the board ending their boarding career"

Fatboy's picture

Whenever I drag Fatboy's crate across the room he

runs to jump inside.   I wonder if he'd do the same with a skateboard.  Must be a bulldog thing :)
