Sisy is one year old

Well, Sisy will be one this week and it's been a joyful year with no visits to vet other than her initial checkups and vaccinations. I took her Saturday to the dog salon for a nail trim, bath, etc. For future/prospective owners of bulldogs I'd like to share some of the expenses so you will have an idea of how much money you'll need to provide top-notch food and care to a healthy puppy:

Food (from age 2 months to 1 year): ( 4 months of Royal Canin 32 + 6 months of Orijen Puppy) $485

Accessories (house, crate, toys, microchip, leash, collar, shampoo, city license, etc): $530

Vet (initial checkups, vaccinations, deworming, Sentinel (fleas and heartworm): $623

Total for 10 months: $ 1,638. It gives an idea of the money and time commitment required. Keep in mind that I only buy the best for her and she hasn't had medical problems at all.

Sisy weighs 57 pounds, eats 2 1/2 cups ( 300 grams) of Orijen Puppy a day. The breeder recommended to feed her puppy food until 12 months. I will feed Orijen 6 Fish afterwards. She gets a 45 minute brisk walk every weeknight and a longer one on weekends. I clean her ears and teeth 3 times a week.

We would add the occassional Boarding to that expense - $20 a day, usually 2 days and a bath (cause they will smell of kennel if no bath) $60 per session

Puppy Spa (Bath, Nails Trimmed/Grind every 6-8 weeks) $45 or so

now Unscheduled Vet visits, its usually $100 minimum from 'Sneezes' to 'an open wound' then Meds, probably another $50. (and follow ups !)

Toys, ok Gizmo is spoiled, about ever month we drop $40-50 - From Antlers ($25 a pop!) to Jolly Balls $20 or Kong's or ropes.

now the biggies $750.00 for a fence around her 'Pee Patch' and the back patio -

Tail Amputation (its not uncommon for the breed) $2000 for the surgery, follow ups,meds etc - actually any 'bully surgery' is going to be starting at about $1000

Bullies are expensive - but as a wise man once told me, 'The definition of a Boat - A HOLE in the water, that you throw money into' ;) so its all in your perspective :)
