Hello BDW! I was wondering what you all do to give your bully a shiny coat? I know this is the time of year they shed and Gracie is really shedding alot but her coat is really rough. She is 10 months old and eats Nutro Natural Choice Puppy chicken meal, rice and oatmeal. Is she still too young to start giving vitamins? I heard that Nuvet vitamins are really good. I would love to start her on something. She also has a horrible tear stain problem. I have no idea how to fix it! Okay, just thought I would ask for your opinions - thanks!
For the coat
I hear that fish oil is amazing.
For the tear stains, have you tried giving her filtered water? I bought a Brita pitcher and started giving her that water (I use it too!) and Stella's tear stains were totally gone in about two weeks. Somthing about the iron in the water, I think.
Yes I switched when I saw your message before!
I saw that you switched to filetered water so I started to do the same thing a couple of weeks ago! I haven't seen much of a difference yet. Maybe it takes a while! Thanks for your help!
nuvet
We use Nuvet.......well at least every other day, cuz this mama is a ding bat. I feel they are great supplements. Kippah is not super shiney, but we are going to start adding a tiny bit of coconut oil to her diet every day, it has HUGE benefits for humans, and I can only imagine it could help her coat, joints, and immune system.

Get her off puppy food
the higher protein and fat in puppy food is not good for bulldogs. Most breeders recommend a switch to adult food around 4 months or never feed a puppy food, but an all life stages food instead. Any supplement that has omega 3 & 6 helps the coat. I have used Missing Link in the past with good results. I'm currently using Grizzly Salmon Oil but will be trying Coconut Oil once I'm done with this bottle of salmon oil. My dogs coats are beautiful, shiney, little to no shedding and Ester is as soft as a plush teddy bear.
wow I never heard that before!
I never knew that about the puppy food. I thought she was supposed to have it until she was at least a year old. I will switch her to the adult version of this food. She has a really sensitive stomach. We tried switching her once and she had a horrible reaction. Im so afraid to have her try something other than her brand of dog food. thanks so much for the tips!
Go slow
with the switch. Mix small amounts of the new with the old for at least 2 weeks, gradually increasing the new.
FIsh oil and filtered water
Dread has the shiniest fur and NEVER has a tear stain problem. We used a Brita filter for awhile but ended up getting the filter that screws onto the kitchen faucet. Works like a charm!
