RICK, I know life really threw you a curve ball last week. And I know you have been on edge waiting to see what would happen with your job. You have the answer now, and it was not what was desired.....but we all know that there are times when a door slams so loudly in our face the air vaccuum makes another door--a BETTER door, pop right open........We all hope and pray that the new door makes itself very obvious, very soon.
HANG IN THERE BUDDY, we are all here rooting for you!

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left. ~Hubert Humphrey

Rick, I've been through this fairly recently
My husband lost his job and some days all I wanted to do was curl up and cry. Both of us took great comfort in Maude and Gus and their crazy, silly, loving bullie-ness. Miss Gizmo is there for you and I highly recommend lots and lots of bullie snuggles, snortles and kisses.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

i was actually thinking the
i was actually thinking the same thing that i haven't seen rick "rarett"
since last week sometime...i had read something that he had posted about his job...
hope all gets settled soon and all is well...
and as my grams always use to say whenever there's a closed door somewhere-
construct a window...
stay well my friend...smoochies to the scrunchy face
Thank you all - I've been lurking just not too talkative -
I've peeked in, to keep an eye on the bullies, I just havent been overly talkative -
We did finally find out something - and its official that I will be out of a job after Easter - however, I do get a severence package, that will cover my salary for 22-26 weeks (Depends how they compute the final numbers). Its long overdue to get SOME type of word either way, since last April its been 'We'll find out something Next quarter, then Next month, then next week, then maybe next week, and its been a long drawn out ordeal, to long and drawn out actually, its like the 'bandaid' oh come on just RIP it off and give us the news will ya?
Now I can finally make some type of plans, School? look for a new Job? be lazy all summer? who knows :) but I can atleast give a future employer a start date now (I have to work up until Easter, or I dont get the severence package) Some of the guys in my shop got picked up by the new company coming in, and its a roll of the dice for them - as they wont get the severence because the resigned prior to Easter. If they are kept for atleast a year, then its good for them, if they get 'Brain Drained' and end up training their replacements, then it will be bad for them. A few are being 'recruited' by another firm, but nothnig firm on the table, and they dont know which direction to go, because its going to be 'rush' decisions.
I'm just glad that I can atleast look at a date and have it circled on my calendar - the worst part is NOT KNOWING ANYTHING - its been stressful to say the least for me and then that causes stress on Dottie. The only persons making out on the stress was my therapists :P LOL
Now I just have to control the 'short timers attitude' and the 'I dont give a F*% its' :) but I am counting down the days.
THANK YOU ALL I do mean this from the bottom of my heart :) BDW has been a great distraction for me when I just wanted to crawl under the bed and hide away from life :)
Rick
Last steps taken May 26, 2014 -- Been rolling along ever since . . . .
:( Glad you have the package
and will have time to find another job. Unfortunately jobs now days are hard to come by. I was laid off twice at 25 yrs and again at 30 years of service with Bank of America. The first layoff package was a full year severance, all benefits...so I honeslty enjoyed staying home for a year and getting paid. Then I went right back to work for them. I lost my 600 hours of accrued sick leave and a week of vacation, but went back with everything else intact. Then the department I was in closed and relocated to Rhode Island so with that layoff I said was enough and bridged to a retirement with 30 years.
I hope you enjoy a little of the time you will have off.
I certainly have enjoyed you and Gizmo here.
Hi Rick
Go ahead and hind under the bed. Give yourself a certain amount of "bed" time then get up, shake yourself off and see what else is out there.. You sound very qualified and like the rest of us, have our bulldogs to keep that smile on your face.
We miss you too,
In the same boat.....
Last week an entire department was reduced to 20 hours and benefits taken away. See, my company was sold to a person who has staff in China. As we all know, they work cheaper then us here in the US so now our jobs are being done away with slowly and surely.
aww rick :(
Im sorry, It totally sucks :(.
My dad lost his job a few months ago too, He went threw a lot of crap with his job being that he worked down in wall street.. he got hit out of nowhere, and still isnt working. and my mom just lost her job too,... they had to put there house up here in NY for sale, it just sold, so there going to go down to florida where they are going to stay in there little condo that they have, until they figure it out... so i totally feel ya, as i have had both my parents here with me every day and as of may 1st i think it is, theyll be down in florida.. its going to be very heart breaking for me.. BUT Like they say. when a door closes another opens. so well all stick together and every thing will work out for the better!. hopefully sooner then later, but me and D man are thinkin of u and your family!.. everything will work out!,...

Nicole and Dozer
Glad to see Rick posted
Rick we are all thinking about you and wishing the best for you (whatever you decide the best is). My work had gone through a bunch of "layoffs" and cutting pay or hours. I felt sick to my stomach everytime I would see a HR person walk past with somebody. It's the unknown that causes a lot of the worry. Like you said now you know and can start planning what to do next. It sounds like you have a great wife and a great doggy to keep your spirits up. Just know that BDW is here for you!
