Rescue dangers / cross post

I have a concern over rescuing puppies that may, [probably not] have had any shots.

My dogs have their shots, but I want to know if there is danger to my dogs, if I rescue a pup and have it in my home before I can get to the vet as we drive down on the weekends as our country vet is cheaper.

I want to help, but not if I cause myself or my dogs problems or danger.

I mean Parvo, not like fleas.....

I would not bring an unvaccinated animal into my home....

I have been known to bring one in, but only if I have the vaccine readily available (any feed store or farm store will sell canine vaccinations). I will vaccinate teh animal myself, then isolate it for a few days with absolutely no interaction with my pets until I know the dog/cat is not symptomatic. I prefer to have my vet do this, but I will in a pinch and have many times been in that position.

My pets have never gotten anything from any thing I have brought in.

Thanks

My garage is detached, but my dogs go right up to the door as the padio is 15 feet and runs between the house and the garage.  I have a cage big enough, maybe the pup is OK where he is today.  I will see.  They [people across the alley]  were acting like it was a bother to them, and being mean to it.  Hard for me to see.

Someone said call the pound, I said I'll call the pound on you..........lol

I would keep it in the garage...

Can you tuck a towel or something under the door so your dogs can't go nose to nose for a few days? I imagine they are safe enough, I just never take that chance...but I have at times, and my guys were ok. Mine are vaccinated well though, it depends on that entirely:-)

I feel for you...it is so hard to see a pup get neglected and not take it in. I would SO have that baby in my garage....

I looked

I walked over and didn't see the pup, I think he may belong there and maybe [let's hope] was stumbled over when I saw him yesterday, and not kicked.....

I had decided to do something, I have a  Tractor supply card and I was gonna get the vaccine if I had to.

I used to give shots to my horse and my kids are both diabetic so I have needles,.

It's good to have folks to talk things through with.

Thanks

Steve

Tractor Supply is the only place I hold a credit card to!

LOL! My favorite store:-)

The vaccines should come with a syringe and needle. Mine do when I buy my horse or small animal shots there. They carry all the shots you would need except rabies.

Poor pup, I hope it wasn't intentional abuse. I hate that so very much:-(. Hopefully you can nab him and find him a good forever home:-)
