I wanted to share my experience in battling ants.

I thought this was interesting. We were recently overrun by ants. It happens mostly in the winter time, but this summer the ants are in abundance. My poor Fatboy and self were at our wits end trying to deal with them ourselves when I finally broke down and called the exterminator. As you can imagine, my main concern was Fatboy. I have never had to bomb the house before for anything. This seemed like it was our only option.

To my surprise the exterminator told my husband (over the phone) to use Windex in the problem areas. He did not recommend bombing the house, even if we didn't have a pet, because the chemicals and cleanup are too much. Windex was safer and more convenient to use. The ants do not like the ammonia smell. All we had to do was spray, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe clean.

We still opted to have him spray outside to kill the colonies. And we have an abnormal supply of Windex on hand already, so this option seemed to work for us. It's been a little over a week and I haven't seen one ant since using the Windex treatment.
