The Rainbow Bridge poem, in Winnie and Kilmore's honor

I found this poem at a local rescues' site, and I posted it the last few weeks, in  honor of those who recently crossed.

I really dont like posting it, because it means we have lost another friend, but I feel the need too, for the families.

I hope the following poem helps you, if only for a moment.

Sarah, most of us never had the honor of meeting these special friends personally, but we grew to know them through you. When I woke this morning to your news, I was totally devistated - but to see the picture of the two of them together, makes my heart grow warm -

The Rainbow Bridge Poem.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

..

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

..

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

..

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

..

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

..

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

I agree with you

this is heartbreaking and still we all cry. even if we never see each other in life we still feel each other lost and pain. my heart goes out to them.

Such sad, sad tidings lately

Even though I haven't posted much at all the past year, I still have read and cried about each and every loss.  My heart bleeds for them and their human companions.  I don't usually post to the threads because there are just no words of comfort that I feel I can add.  But rest assured, I feel you pain and I grieve for/with you.
